Firefighters help rescue Dorset cyclist after 40 foot clifftop fall

Firefighters and otheremergency services personnel have rescued a man who fell 40 foot while riding his bike along a clifftop cycle path in Bournemouth, Dorset.

Police, paramedics and coastguard staff were also involved in the operation yesterday evening, which saw fire service crew deploy an aerial ladder platform, reports BBC News.

The man, who was taken to hospital with back injuries, is thought to have fallen down the cliff face near to a memorial to Red Arrows pilot Jon Egging, who died in a crash at the Bournemouth Air Display in 2011.

The cyclist was taken to hospital with back injuries, although BBC News says his current condition is not known.

Hope he recovers but I'm at a loss as to how he ended up over the fences there. It's a couple of years since I was there though.
