Council boss's road trip to France on golden Brompton to showcase investment opportunities in West London

Golden bike 'represents golden opportunity' to invest in Hounslow, West London say council...

The head of regeneration at Hounslow council is riding 850 miles to Cannes on a golden Brompton bike to showcase the work of the borough to potential investors.

Brendon Walsh set off on March 5th for the MIPIM show beginning on Tuesday, where he will be showing off his “vision to transform Hounslow Town Centre into one of west London’s most vibrant, exciting, shopping and leisure destinations.”

Property professionals will be invited to invest their cash into projects for improved housing and leisure facilities in the borough.

As a Brentford company, Brompton made the ‘golden opportunity’ bike specially for the Director of Regeneration, Economic Development and Environment.

"By bringing the gold Brompton bike – which has been made especially for MIPIM – we are showcasing not only the best of Brentford but also British to some of the biggest movers and shakers in international business," Mr Walsh told Get West London.

The 53 tear old will be raising money this year for the children's charity Coram.

Council leader Steve Curran said: "Last year, Hounslow went to MIPIM and secured multi-million pound developments for Hounslow town centre and Brentford which means more affordable homes, jobs and prosperity for our residents and businesses.

"But we want to build on this success so we can secure more investment to keep our borough booming and improve the lives of Hounslow people.

"We will need to compete fiercely with other London boroughs and councils across the country to show why Hounslow – with Heathrow on our doorstep and central London a stone’s throw away – is the capital's window to the world."

It’s not Mr Walsh’s first charity antic - he can be seen here taking part in the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge.
