Not when they are listed like that on official startlists, because then in becomes a case of remembering what they were shortened to, I already have that issue with some of the women's names that I shortened
Stefan Kueng in the game should probably be Stefan 'Kung'...
Nope, because on all the UCI results he is down as Kueng, his UCI license says Kueng aswell...
Yep. The red ones are the ones that should appear in the game, the ones from the UCI. It´s clearer in the spreadsheet. And oops, I thought I had left this one out, but its there…
I´ll be glad to look at any other rider lists you have...
Heh heh
Woo hoo! Yeah! Thank you, Gkam! I'll be more than happy to check the Pro Continental team list next week… I think that includes 'Kevyn' or 'Kevin' Ista, who I'll probably write to the UCI about, too..
I agree with you Twy… But source wise, well, crap, I understand G's insistence on using the 'official' source… Though I would trust you more than the UCI or even the teams!
Astana, for example, writes on its team site that the team had a Classics 'brakethrough' (http://proteam-astana.com/2013/12/24/classics-brakethrough/)...
You seem to know a lot about Russian… I've been wondering how you picked it up? Family? School? Locals?
Anyways, just like you said:
and I took offence to that, I also take offence to you speaking of my :
I take offence to that. You can characterise my efforts as 'diligent' but you may not characterise them as a 'romanization' of names, kind sir. I am not taking creative liberties with translations, my dear Twy, I, sir, am merely reporting discrepancies I have found on the names of riders between how they appear on their team website and the game start list. You, sir, are claiming the knowledge to know how a language is being rightly or wrongly translated, sir, not I, and though I applaud your knowledge, I do not take kindly to your characterisation of my efforts. *hrumph*.
When, oh, when, will you decide to 'grovel up to me' with an apology for twisting my 'words' and 'actions' ? I'm waiting for it, kind sir. Please, sir, do not ignore this simple request. You, sir, sound like a proper and reasonable individual. I, sir, think it not unreasonable that you apologise for your behavior. That in itself, sir, would say a lot about your manners and upbringing, kind sir, and, it would mean a lot!
I'm sorry, I was eating a late breakfast, I'm back now...
They look beautiful! I am so happy...
*sigh* Here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZwhqLFNrTjI
I just could't find him on the UCI Team Tinkoff Saxo roster (http://www.uci.ch/templates/BUILTIN-NOFRAMES/Template1/layout.asp?MenuId...) which the game has him assigned to. I couldn't find him on PCS, either... or on cyclingfever (http://www.cyclingfever.com/team.html?team_idd=OTQ0Mw==).
There is a 'Maurizio Henao Jaramillo' (http://www.cyclingarchives.com/coureurfiche.php?coureurid=7580) on the cylingarchives.com site, but I don't see him on the roster for Tinkoff Saxo either...
I know *sigh* I put him in there for comedic effect. He's famous for doing 'telenovelas' (soap operas) and he's 'beefcake' for the ladies in Miami and South America and every year he's on someone's list of 'The Most Beautiful People' of Latin TV... I thought it was funny he said he 'eing a [m]an is... hard..., i want to be [one] before im done'... I thought you might relate.. a little...
Back to the rider, then, thanks for 'inactivating' him! Shouldn't he out of the game completely, then? Even if the entry refers to 'Mauricio Henao Jaramillo', he doesn't seem to be an active rider anymore... Just wondering It seems like he last rode in 2004...
PV 1_8.png
Hmmm... the birthday does (!) match the rider in cyclingarchives.com, That's interesting! Hmmm... http://www.cyclingarchives.com/coureurfiche.php?coureurid=7580 It seems he may not have ridden in a while or someone never wrote about him or tracked him... Hmmm... Interesting...
@ProCyclingStats just tweeted they think it must be Edward Beltran... Interesting ... The suspense is killing me...
Ha ha ha! That's amazing! I tweeted @flechewallone, no answer yet, but this just takes the cake! Amazing! What a verstaile rider! I bent over laughing so hard! Thank you! If we ever have a coed season long Purist competition, I'm putting him on my team!
Thank you!
Probably. That's good, though! I know you haven't gotten around to the Pro Continental Teams but I was looking at the Giro D'Italia start lists and looking at Team Colombia I see that Edwin Alciviades Avila in the game appears as Edwin 'Alcibiades' on the UCI page and the Team Colombia website...
I have a suggestion. You probably have all these folks at Team Colombia and probably most of the riders from Spanish Speaking countries down with their first name, middle name , father's last name and mother's last name...
The truth is, with all these Spanish and Latin American names, you could probably do away with their middle names for the game. For the most part, riders, like Segio Luis Henao, are usually just called Sergio Henao, Nairo Alexander Quintana could easily just be called Nairo Quintana, etc...
It would make the names shorter, the database neater and it would visually look less congested with less names around a rider...
I would even get rid of the mother's last name, as in Igor Anton Hernandez, and just use Igor Anton, and only use the mother's last name to distinguish two riders who have identical first and last names, if necessary... I think it would look neater that way... Thanks!
... that's where the screenshot I put up came from...
Thank you by the way...
Retiro lo dicho entonces...
Pierre Luc Perichon still appears in the game as 'Peirre'...
Emanuel Buchmann also has a space after his name in the game database, as in 'Emanuel Buchmann_'
Since it's not that busy for a while now, wouldn't it be nice to clean up the Latin American and Spanish names to make for shorter names? I can provide you a list if you want...
Where do you think he got his 1100 posts from ????
And just as mysteriously as he appeared, he disappeared. Wow. I wonder what happened? The mysterious 'Mauricio Henao'. Will he ever ride again? I wonder why Saxo Tinkoff put him on the start list for La Fleche? Hmmm... he never showed on the PCS or cyclingfever start lists, or on the UCI website roster or on the Saxo Tinkoff website, but he did make a very brief appearance on the 'official' start list... The mysteries of the peloton are many... Fare thee well, Mauricio, I hope we meet again... and you come back to ride as a 3.0 rider again... We could certainly use you at the Tour...
I'm trying to catch up and you're making it extremely difficult by responding to each and every one of my posts
So they have now misspelled Tsatevich to match the misspelling on the Katusha website.
**Genius**
Jesus, you emailed the UCI about it....
LOL, oh enrique, enrique, you certainly are a stickler for detail.
Is there a difference in pronunciation between one spelling and the other?...
I am... I like my things prim and proper... I had a proper English upbringing with a proper English, actually Scottish, 'headmaster' and all!
Quite a lot. 'Ts' is its own letter making the sound of a hi-hat (Think Tsar). An English 'C' would not be used on its own in Russian instead the hard 'K' sound is used and written as such. 'CH' is only translated for a 'ch' as in church and to distinguish between a 'KH' sound (e.g. Khabarovsk) which is more like clearing your throat to release a 'Docker's Omlette'.
Plus Tsatevich's twitter handle is @TsatevichAlexey and his English looks good enough to be relied upon to spell his own name.
I think you'd better grovel to the UCI Enrique admitting your mistake
Grovel, sir? Admit my mistake? Me? I will do no such thing! I beg to differ, sir. I, sir, do not make mistakes I refuse to do such a thing, of course!
Because of this below, sir. Here's what I wrote to them:
An apology is expected, kind sir.
I will write them back, of course. But there is no mistake to be admitted to on my part In fact, you (!) sir, are mistaken about my being mistaken and should come 'groveling' to me admitting your mistake about my being mistaken (!)
I'm an old, useless bureaucrat, at heart, fond of tradition and things done properly and, of course, of doing the proper thing. We're a relatively useless family, you see, my grandfather was a government bureaucrat, my father is a lawyer and I, well, I used to teach, so, you see, we quibble about the tiniest of things in a constant effort to upstage one another... Truly useless but highly entartaining And we have fun doing it!
