The Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea is hosting its first cycling forum on Wednesday 10 March, with local residents invited to give their views on how the council can "help make a difference for cyclists and let us know how we can improve cycling."
Speakers at the event, which starts at 6pm at the Mosaic Music Rooms, 226 Cromwell Road SW5 0SW, include Philip Darnton, chairman of Cycling England, and Tom Bogdanowicz, local campaigns manager at London Cycle Campaign.
Cycle parking will be available or for those using public transport, the nearest tube station is Earls Court and the 74, 328, C1 and C3 bus routes also pass close by.
Those wishing to go along to the forum are asked to confirm their attendance by sending an email to road.safety@rbkc.gov.uk or telephoning 020 7361 3766.
Current bike-friendly initiatives in the borough include a trial allowing cyclists to ride the wrong way down one-way streets, while earlier this month, work started on a scheme on Exhibition Road that will see it transformed into a naked street-style shared space.

Good to see local government
Good to see local government is prepared to at least listen. Visiting London on a bike i have found that the pedestrian needs a shout of “HELLO” to gain attention whilst “jay walking” and occasionally offer abuse where they are in the wrong as they are unaware of the danger that THEY pose to the cyclists by stepping off the pavement without looking let alone listening for traffic whilst texting/mp3 or phone to ear.

There is a growing disconnect between cyclists and motorists as a result of the way people live these days!
Already it is “ME, ME, ME” and will continue this way until the children are taught otherwise in school since they will progress into driving a vehicle as they come of age.
Teaching children at an early age to share the rpad and respect the rules can be reinforced by additional training at 14yo so that there is continued progress into youth and adulthood. Parental involvement is needed as this training will instill into the parents the need to modify any anti social behaviours that they have come to think is acceptable.
Thus it is clear that more funds rather than less are needed to build a safer future for the young.
Vote out those who would not build the future for your offspring as they are breaking the mandate of leaving a better legacy from their efforts.
More needs to be done to publicise the “anti social” and i was happy to see that a “Hit & Run Driver” was followed onto an airliner in Sth Africa for identification, pity was that the Airline did not leave him behind to face the consequences “for being in a hurry”! More action such as this will cause more consideration on the road.
