Avinox’s drive systems already span a super wide stretch of disciplines and price points, but with the spendier and very enduro-focused M2S-equipped Reason gracing Megamo’s e-MTB lineup, the brand saw an opportunity to add a more accessible bike to the range. Meet the RYAL…

Rather confusingly, Megamo states that this is an enduro e-MTB but that ‘not every rider wants a pure enduro machine’. So the RYAL is an enduro bike, but dialled back a touch to make it more familiar and easy to get on with. That said, Megamo reckons that the Reason is for ‘competition-level’ enduro, whereas the RYAL is built for ‘genuine MTB capability’.

As such, the bike dons 160mm of suspension at both ends and, of course, it’s powered by the Avinox M2S and M2 motors, depending on the model you choose. That means that the bike can output up to 150Nm and 1,500W of peak power. But handily, it’s equipped with a removable 800Wh battery, making at-home charging as simple as it can be.

Using the Reasons as a foundation, the RYAL aims to make its geometry more accessible. As such, it benefits from a 480mm reach on a large frame, a 64.4-degree head tube angle and a 455mm chainstay. That’s all with a 77-degree seat tube angle. These numbers have been chosen to achieve a more centred riding position at ‘real world speeds’, and more agility. Plus, the size S is smaller, opening up Megamo’s Avinox-equipped e-MTBs to a greater height range.

In a bid to achieve more competitive prices, this bike features an aluminium frame across the range, complete with oversized pivot bearings, either external or internal cable routing and it rolls on a set of 29-inch wheels. The bike then borrows the suspension kinematic found on the Reason.

Specs and prices

Megamo’s RYAL is available in four builds, with the 10 and 08 rocking the Avinox M2 motor, whereas the 05 and 03 AXS use the M2S system. At the top of the range, the Ryal 03 AXS gets Fox Factory-level suspension with a 38 fork and Float X shock. There’s then SRAM’s S1000 AXS drivetrain and DT Swiss H 1900 wheels. The RYAL 05 dons Fox 38 Performance fork and Float Rhythm shock, combined with SRAM’s Eagle 90 shifting and own-brand wheels.

The RYAL 08 uses the RockShox ZEB Base fork and Deluxe Select+ shock, SRAM Eagle 70 shifting and SRAM Maven Base brakes. The Ryal 10 boasts a RockShox Psylo Silver fork, a Deluxe Select+ shock and a drivetrain comprised of Shimano XT and Deore components.

Prices start at £3,999 and go up to £6,999.
