In any case, I believe help is available for not being able to mount in the up position.
"Additionally, because it requires a 5mm Allen key for any angle or rotational adjustments, you cannot tweak the position on the fly without a multi-tool, or a dedicated 5mm" Does this just apply to rotating the mount around the seatpost? Because their video from 4 years ago suggests you can move the light arm between left / right / up orientations just by hand using the magnets.
“So, as it appears to be an illegal bike, and if it is, then it shouldn’t be on the road" Does that mean if I see a car with an illegal 3D number plate, or blacked out windows, or a modified exhaust I can vandalise it and it is not an offence?
Also, arguably it would be more effective at deterring close passes if you could only see the lit element - usually the light is somewhere near the centre line of the bike so I'd wager a lot of drivers will move wider on this assumption.
Funny how all bikes have become all-rounders. No specialist bikes anymore, just one bike to rule them all. Is that just a pendulum swing or something deeper?
I am slightly concerned due to the new poles of political attraction to left and right we end up with the worst of all worlds - non-progressive policies which hand over more public goods to megacorps but don't actually save much money. I can see roads policy heading towards Reform-lite (hmm... what would change?) because the other pole (Greens) seem less concerned about this kind of thing currently and because the hard-pressed motorist is grumpier than ever (and an increasing number of drivers are older - because more old people - and they tend to vote that way). Also I wonder if public transport will take a hit - especially the larger projects. Partly because "there's no money" but also due to fallout from mismanagement of HS2.
Shurely "bikes undertake motor vehicles in the city of London, cutting through the static motor traffic and getting there faster than honest motorists, they don't even pay road tax the blighters..." 😉
@Johnny Rags Essentially the arrogant ignorant.
If this wwas integrated into a mudguard I could see its market potential. but it looks too wierd as it is
"Reflective arm doesn't illuminate, reducing the "wide" effect at night" Surely reduces the "wide" effect during the day? At night car headlights will hopefully reflect off the reflector back at the driver illuminating the arm.

What it seems like the
What it seems like the Canucks have come up with some really stupid legisaltion in Montreal.
As for World Bicycle Day, I celebrated it by marshalling at a BMX event.
It’s about time someone found
It’s about time someone found the balls to stand up to the brutal cyclists going around with 5 or less reflectors. The sheer number of lives lost to the reckless abandon shown by these cyclists is just astounding.
Yesterday was designated the
Yesterday was designated the first ever World Bicycle Day by the United Nations – sorry, but that one passed me right by. I didn’t know that there was a World Bicycle Day.
On the Montreal thing:
On the Montreal thing:
So a bit more to it than just the reflectors…
Some Canadian Provinces have
Some Canadian Provinces have some strange bike laws. I lived in Halifax, Nova Scotia on the Canadian east coast and when I bought a bike I asked for a set of lights and the bike shop guy said why ? “To ride at night” I replied – ” Not a legal requirement ” he answered -“but you are required to have a helmet – night or day”
And with helmet and reflector
And with helmet and reflector laws cycling has not got safer in Canada, it’s got worse with more deaths and more injuries since they started forcing helmet wearing/increases in helmet wearing across the country.
Yet another backward society that focuses on the vulnerable to protect themselves instead of changing the behaviour of those doing the harm. What utter bullshit.
Lovely video of the fab overtake by the transporter, I had a brilliant overtake on a country road a couple of years ago, after a fair few of the usual crud it was a nice relief so I contacted the firm ( not local but family run business) to give praise and they responded back that they got their drivers out on bikes and made particular training sessions for their drivers when in various scenarios where they might come across people on bikes.
We all have to get some place and that means when you’re in the bigger/biggest thing out there you need to take more time and care with how you do things to minimise the risk for all concerned including yourself.
