As the UK’s longest-running e-bike site, ebiketips.co.uk has been publishing news, reviews and buying advice since 2014. We chiefly focus on the urban/utility e-bike market, but also cover e-road bikes, e-MTBs and wider micromobility, including e-scooters and e-mopeds.
We pride ourselves on our integrity and independence and our ability to provide honest opinions on electric bikes and associated issues without fear or favour.
Meet the team
Alex Bowden – editor

Alex moved over to ebiketips in 2020 after six years covering the news for sister site road.cc – where he still contributes the occasional review. He has previously worked in local news and web marketing and has also written extensively about a sport where the competitors aren’t on two wheels.
Alex has been ebiketips editor since 2021, during which time he’s developed unexpectedly strong opinions on bench seats and front racks. He hasn’t yet concluded whether all the hours of e-bike testing have aided or hampered his ongoing bid to be considered ‘the world’s most average road cyclist’.
Rebecca Bland
An experienced e-bike reviewer, Rebecca has been shaping ebiketips’ buyer’s guides since 2022. She has previously written for Autocar, Eurosport and Move Electric and currently covers tech news for road.cc.
Rebecca’s been riding bikes since as far back as she can remember, and fell back in love with them after realising it was faster, cheaper, and more fun than getting the bus to work. Nowadays she enjoys all kinds of bikes, from road to eMTB and is training her border collie pup to become a trail dog.
Richard Peace

Richard is our senior reviewer and a hugely authoritative voice in the world of e-bikes, having contributed getting on for 100 reviews for ebiketips alone.
Richard took to full-time outdoor writing/photojournalism after stints in an office and as an English teacher abroad. His cycling route guide books include the best-selling Ultimate C2C Guide and the Ultimate UK Cycle Route Planner plus Electric Bicycles. He has written for various media about many aspects of cycling.
Contributors
Stu Kerton
Working as road.cc’s senior product reviewer, Stu has tested hundreds of bikes, including a growing number of electric road bikes. From there, it has been a short spin over to electric city bikes and folders and e-cargo bikes too.
Ian Evenden
An established and highly-respected tech and science journalist, Ian has been reviewing e-bikes for us since 2021. He has also written for the BBC, the Independent, Stuff, Which and The London Evening Standard.
Tony Tompkins
Tony’s journey into the world of e-bikes began in 2016, sparked by a doctor’s advice to overhaul his lifestyle and lose weight. Within a year, he transitioned to a regular bike and has since covered nearly 40,000 miles on it. His passion for e-bikes led him to start writing about them in 2018.
