Thor Hushovd rewarded his Cervélo TestTeam colleagues for their hard work at the front of the peloton on the way into Murcia this afternoon by beating Daniele Bennati of Liquigas-Doimo on the line to take Stage 6 of the Vuelta a Espana, giving his team a first stage victory in what is its final bow in a Grand Tour after last week’s announcement that it is being disbanded at the end of the season.

Colnago are showing off their latest top-of-the range creation at Eurobike – the all-carbon C59 Italia.

The C59 bucks the trend in that it’s a lugged design with the head tube effectively one large lug. The centre sections of the top tube and down tube draw on the Colnago heritage in both being cloverleaf-shaped in profile… Well, sort of. They’re really square with the edges fluted away, but they’re close enough to be recognizably Colnago.

Garmin have a big share of the bike GPS market, and for good reason: their units generally perform well, are well sealed against the elements and eke plenty of running time out of the battery. They've not always been the easiest to use however, and Garmin have been making strides toward a simpler system with the Edge 500.

The other thing that's been happening is the proliferation of map-based systems. The 705 was never very strong from a mapping point of view, and that's one of the main things that Garmin have addressed with their new unit, the Edge 800.

Garmin-Transitions Tyler Farrar has said that he was able to benefit from an unusually early bid for the line by HTC-Columbia’s Mark Cavendish in yesterday’s Stage 5 of the Vuelta a Espana in Lorca to use the Manxman as an unwitting leadout man before nipping out and passing him in the closing metres to take the win.
