Positioned between the all-out mud Mota and Mazza, designed for mixed conditions, the new Mostro fills the gap in Vittoria’s range for loose and coarse trail conditions.

Mostro features a distinctly different tread pattern to the Moto and Mazza’s rectangular and square tread blocks. Unlike Vittoria’s other enduro tyres, Mostro borrows the brand’s V-formation tread blocks, a design proven on Vittoria’s fast-rolling XC and trail tyres.

Vittoria’s V-shaped centre tread pattern is shaped for rolling speed, but in the enduro tyre application with Mostro, the XC design features much larger tread blocks. The Mostro’s tread blocks are extensively siped for dynamic responsiveness during extreme braking and cornering, allowing each tread block to deform more, digging into the trail for enhanced grip.

Beyond the V-formation tread pattern design, the Mostro blends several Vittoria technologies. The range is divided into Enduro Race and Enduro variants, which are self-descriptive.

The Enduro Race has a 60tpi casing, offering greater durability, with a combination Graphene and Silici rubber compound. Mostro Enduro tyres are moulded with a combination of four rubber compounds, delivering superior grip in all trail conditions, regardless of weather. The Mostro Enduro tyres also feature a 120tpi casing with two-ply reinforcement for better puncture resistance.

Fewer pinch flats

All Mostro tyres have sidewall stability inserts to guard against rim-induced pinch flats.

These sidewall stability inserts are a rubber pad strategically positioned between the nylon bead-to-bead protection layer and the kevlar tyre bead. During high-speed trail impacts, when running tyres at vulnerably low pressures, this sidewall stability pad dissipates impact energy in the rim bead pinch zone.

The sidewall stability inserts are a Vittoria design solution to address the issue of square-edged terrain impacts pinch-flats, which are a risk when rolling down technical trails at enduro racing speeds. Instead of riders enhancing pinch-flat resistance with aftermarket inserts, sidewall stability is integrated into the Mostro tyre casings from the factory.

For enduro riders who believe in alternate front/rear trye combinations, the Mostro is a dedicated front tyre, ideally paired with a Mazza at the rear.

Vittoria is launching the Mostro range in a 29 x 2.4in casing size. The Mostro Enduro Race weighs a claimed 1,490g and retails for £70. Riders who opt for the Enduro will save both mass and money, with this version set to weigh 1,460g and priced at £65.
