Vulpine, the cycle clothing brand launched at the start of the year, will be holding its first Christmas Fete tomorrow. The Fete, like the first such event which took place during the summer, takes place at the Balham Bowls Club in South London.
Promised to be “biggerer betterer funnerer” than that the debut edition, the Fete brings together a host of stallholders – Rouleur, Cylodelic, Militag and Il Soigneur are just some of the names – as well as artists and photographers, so there’s plenty of opportunity for finding that cycling-related gift (or treat to yourself).
Entry to the event, which runs from 3pm through until 9pm, is free, and it will also feature roller racing courtesy of Rollapaluza. Full details including exactly who will be there are available on the Vulpine website.
According to Vulpine, the idea behind tomorrow’s Fete, as with the original one, is to provide...
A fun, dynamic, inclusive way to enjoy all aspects of cycling and keep non-cyclists entertained too. There's no snobbery, just great creativity, atmosphere, booze and British entrepreneurial cycling companies that do what they do to a very high standard indeed.
Nobody pays to attend. Vulpine doesn't make any money from them. This is not a trade show. We just ask that they donate to our two nominated charities, and thus everyone feels warms and fuzzy. This fete we're all supporting Friends of Herne Hill Velodrome, fighting to save one of British cycling's greatest icons, and birthplace of Bradley Wiggins' career; and Rollapaluza Outreach, encouraging cycling and sport in schools.
The fete is again at Balham Bowls Club in South London. It is indeed an old bowling club, in Balham! (Address on poster) A big amazing place, with beautiful shabby old wood-clad walls, vintage furniture and fine beers. Its a couple of minutes from Balham tube and overground train, plus its right next to the CS7 Cycle Superhighway.
Why London again? Well, I've been so busy launching Vulpine, and the last fete nearly did me in, so I took the selfish decision to keep the organisation the same, until I have staff to help me next year. We definitely want to take the fete around the UK next year. Do email us with any recommendations and requests for us to come to your area.
