Perth & Kinross Council has given the go-ahead to the 2019 edition of the Etape Caledonia following a change in organiser of the popular closed-road sportive.
As we reported last month, the event will in future by managed by Limelight Sports under licence from its owner, IMG.
> New organisers for Etape Caledonia, event to return in 2019
Limelight Sports sauys that since then it has engaged in consultation with members of the local community as well as councillors over the organisation of the event, the UK’s oldest closed-road sportive, first held in 2007.
The company’s CEO, Craig Dews, said: "We're extremely pleased with the decision made by Perth & Kinross Council today. We have an enthusiastic and very experienced team who are looking forward to taking Etape Caledonia forward into its second successful decade as the original closed road cycling sportive.
“We'll be sharing the details of our plans over the coming weeks, as well as continuing to work with members of the local business community to ensure that participants are given the warmest welcome to Highland Perthshire."
He added: "I'd personally like to extend my thanks to everyone that we have been in contact with over the last few weeks. Their advice, guidance and input to this process has been greatly appreciated by our whole team and I'm confident that, together, we will deliver a very successful Etape Caledonia next May."
Next year's event takes place on Sunday 19 May.
