eBike World Championship set for same venue where hidden motor found

You couldn't make it up ... Zolder hosts April's event (minus UCI officials)...

Here’s story you couldn’t make up story – Zolder in Belgium, where a concealed motor was found in a bike at the UCI Cyclo-cross World Championship at the weekend, will apparently host the eBike World Championships later this year.

The website ewc.bike – strapline “Race the future of mobility” says the event will take place at the Zolder motor racing circuit on 21 April, which is where last weekend’s racing was held.

Sadly, it is otherwise rather lacking in detail, nor does there appear to be any information about it on the circuit’s own website.

At the weekend, UCI commissaries discovered a motor in a bike prepared for use by Belgium’s Femke Van den Driessche, the first time such a device has been found at a race.

The UCI is not listed as a partner organisation to April’s event.

Do you get disqualified if you ride a Wilier without a motor?
