Tubolito, who previously made specialist inner tubes with a focus on weight saving, has launched what it claims is an ‘unpuncturable’ inner tube, with a one year warranty just in case you don’t believe it. Priced at £22.99 each, they’re only suitable for tyres between 30mm-50mm in width and fit 700c wheels.
Still, plenty of our readers on the site and across social media are having a hard time believing that an inner tube can be completely indestructible.
Velophaart_95 commented: “I’d like to know where they tested them….. it seems far too good to be true. However, I may be tempted to buy a pair later in the year.”
Bruce Laidlaw appeared to be concerned about the business model, adding: “Great idea if you are in the business of making and selling inner tubes! What happens once we all own one (or two) = no sales & no business!”
Not forgetting some inner tube-related puns, Declan Mcgee observed: “I think they are just blowing it out of all proportion”, while Matt Attonic says: “You forgot to mention the inflated price.”

The 22-year-old is obviously a hero in his homeland after that Tour de France victory last year… and now if his fellow Slovenians want to grab a quick lunch on the go, they can stare at a very quick cyclist before tucking into their tasty sub rolls.
There appears to be turkey, ham and cheese options, and according to our translations the text on photo number two says something along the lines of: “Now Pogacar can overcome hunger.”
Any Slovenian natives able to translate, and confirm or deny if these are tasty? For the rest of us who won’t get to see Pogacar on our sandwich packaging, we’ll definitely be seeing him on the 26th June when he will begin the defence of his Tour de France yellow jersey.
The Wahoo Clagr?
Every now and then, a solid gold archive excerpt from Viz – self-proclaimed as ‘Britain’s third or fourth funniest magazine. Possibly fifth’ – does the rounds… and when it’s cycling-related we’re particularly interested, of course.
This stationary bike is for “when wiping simply isn’t enough’, allowing the rider to get a workout while giving their behind a more thorough clean than traditional methods. Some folks on the Zwift Riders Facebook group think it’s a little reminiscent of the Wahoo Kickr Bike, with name suggestions including the Wahoo CLAGR and the Wahoo SHITR.
Another couldn’t help but norice some flaws with the workings of the contraption, noting: “I’m most bothered by the fact that the back wheel is somehow spinning the wrong way… It doesn’t appear to be a fixie, and appears to have a derailleur… so it should be flinging those winnits and dangleberries at his feet.”
Thames Valley Police appeal for witnesses after cyclist hit by van driver dies

Police say that the incident occurred at 8.15pm on 13th June on a dual carriageway section of the A4130 between Lower Assendon and Bix, near Henley-on-Thames. Both the cyclist and van driver were travelling westbound, and following the collision the cyclist, a 45-year-old male, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The van driver, a 57-year-old man from Wallingford, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless or inconsiderate driving and driving whilst unfit through drugs, and has since been released under investigation.
Investigating officer PC Julia Stroud of the Serious Collision Investigation Unit said: “First and foremost, our thoughts are with the family and friends of the man who has very sadly died.
“I am appealing for any witnesses to this collision, or who saw the van or cyclist before or at the time of the collision to please get in touch.
“I am especially keen to hear from anybody who has dash-cam footage to please check this and contact police if it has captured anything that can assist this investigation.
“You can do so by making a report online or by calling the 24-hour non-emergency number 101, quoting reference number 43210259113.
“For 100% anonymity, you can also call the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”

Leo Murray discovered the pins on what is described as a ‘narrow corridor’ next to the A4, with some suggesting that the act is a warped protest against the narrow width of the pavement that is meant to be shared by pedestrians and cyclists.
Mr Murray added: “While I was picking them up I was passed by a flower delivery cargo cyclist, mum and small kids in bucket bike, dad and larger kids on bikes and a disabled cyclist on a trike, all funnelled through this busy narrow corridor where this kind of sabotage is easy.”
Another said: “Imagine hating cyclists so much you can’t remember that dogs exist.”
Supercar problems: when there's nowhere sensible to rack your bike
With no space inside the Lamborghini and a soft top roof, it looks like this supercar owner had no choice but to rack their mountain bike on the car’s windscreen… well I suppose the other choice would be to avoid being stupid and not do this, but it is what it is.
A safer option would have been to combine the two by purchasing one of these Cervelo x Lamborghini R5 road bikes. We’re sure the culprit wouldn’t have any problems affording the £18,468 price tag, unless the impending legal troubles clear their account…

More from Derbyshire, this time it’s the county’s Road Policing Unit that has attracted a lot of criticism for the post above about a collision between a driver and a cyclist.
One said: “What? That’s your take? How about ‘drivers, please double check for vulnerable road users, and drive with care’”, while another added: “It would be more useful to know what action was taken against the driver for their selfish and reckless behaviour than blame the innocent party. Expected better of a police RPU, very disappointed.”
Not everyone thought the tweet was problematic, with one saying: “It prevented more injury than necessary for the type of collision, glass embedded in the cyclists head, cuts and bleeding etc…… which is what they are designed for so yes they should recommend wearing a helmet.”
In its defence, Derbyshire Roads Policing Unit added: “It goes without saying that drivers must ensure their path is clear before proceeding. That’s the law and we are dealing with the driver as such. But this is a road safety tweet highlighting how helmets can prevent a serious injury should a cyclist be involved in a crash.
“The cyclist suffered a minor injury. His helmet will require replacement as it took the impact.”

Remember that time that began in March 2020, and then again a bit more between roughly January-March of this year when some people thought recreational cycling was against the lockdown rules? Well it turns out that the motoring journalist and notable morality specialist Jeremy Clarkson was one of them, moaning that the cyclist in this clip – filmed in the Cotswolds during lockdown for the new Amazon Prime series ‘Clarkson’s Farm’ – was making a non-essential journey:
“Everyone’s told to stay at home unless their journey’s essential. That doesn’t apply to cyclists, obviously!”, says Clarkson.
Even if Clarkson was correct, unfortunately for him the man riding past happened to be Charlie Quarterman, a professional cyclist from Oxford who rides for Trek-Segafredo. One follower added: “…not sure what’s more awkward, him owning himself while being a smart-arse as per or the fact he’s pretty much in cardiac arrest putting up a small sign.”
The eight-episode first series of Clarkson’s Farm sees Clarkson trying to run a 1000 acre farm, hitting various hurdles along the way. Reviews have been mixed so far…

Sooner or later, there will be public calls for cycling ban on specific roads and / or at specific times of the day. The great divide that separates cyclists from drivers of motorized vehicles with 4-plus wheels isn't going to narrow anytime soon. In spite of the net-zero madness, there is zip political ambition to allocate massive funds to cycling, build proper infrastructure, elaborate a nationwide integrated cycling network, educate all road users. Why? Because motorists of all kinds are voters and taxpayers.

AS I read this, I was wondering hao many other legal e-bikes may have been seized and crushed as a result of this bogus test? As I pointed out recently in a reply to a Facebook post that stated that e-bikes are limited to 25kph/15.5mph any bike, whether a pure pedal cycle or an e-bike, can exceed this speed if the rider can pedal hard enough, or when going downhill. The regulation just states that the motor must switch off at higher speeds. If the rider can achieve higher speeds unaided, that is legal. The test that the police used just demonstrated the maximum "speed" achieved by pedal power alone with no or little resistance can be much higher than the motor cut-off speed.
@ROOTminus1 Unfortunately, people will still do all they can to get past. the MGIFs can't help themselves and are a danger to everyone not only the cyclist.

Clearly driver training and the driving test need to change to meet modern time poor driving conditions. I suggest the following need to be added to the practical test : 1) Undertaking on pavements. 2) Close passing cyclists or horses at 50mph.(It is clear from the comments on this website that cyclists do not appreciate how difficult a skill this is to master). 3) Threading between bollards to park on pavements near fast food outlets. 4) Steering with the knees while using a mobile phone and eating a burger or sushi, depending on the area. 5) Fighting with cyclists at roundabouts. For the advanced driving test the fighting will be with gangs of Hell's Angels or Mods. 6) Handbrake turns. 7) Driving at speed after all night parties. 8) Selecting the wrong gear and smashing into somebody's living room. The theory test could be shortened to make room for these practical additions. Maybe it could just be distilled down to learning crucial phrases like : "The cyclist came out of nowhere!" "I had the children in the car." "I had hunger knock and urgently needed an egg Mcmuffin." "I didn't see them." "I had been to a party and was wearing different shoes."
The headline states the article will "weigh up the pros and cons" but doesn't really provide any argument for keeping the limit. Or maybe it's to "weigh up the pros (of lowering the limit) and cons (of keeping the limit)"? Beyond having a different limit for either/or women's races/smaller riders, which I can see a strong argument for, I don't really see the point of just lowering the absolute limit. What will it achieve? We'll end up with aero bikes at the new limit but instead of costing £10-15k, it'll be £15-20k and we'll still hear more complaining about everything in the bike industry being so expensive. Sure, no one's forced to buy the TdF bike, but it does anchor the price ceiling, which will have an effect on every other model. There's a focus in the article on companies being able to make lightweight bikes again, or for pros to race on them. Well, they already exist for those that want them. And the pros? We might have a few years of bike choice, but we'll still end up with everyone using the aero bike at the new weight limit but with lots of expensive R&D and new materials that need to be paid for. Especially lightweight bikes don't have a right to exist. A 7kg bike from 20 years ago is the same weight as a 7kg bike today. I think what's more interesting is the suggestion of scaling the weight limit with rider weight. That feels fairer. But could it remove an advantage that a bigger sprinter might have over their colleagues, for example? We could end up with just the same style of rider across a whole race. It also feels like it doesnt make much sense to just map the men's limit onto the women's field. But then if it's an arbitrary limit, does that matter either?
FFS France always seemed like a safe place to ride a bike, outside Paris that is. Can't see the Department number in the photo - hire cars traditionally have been registered in Oise (60) and many still are, though not all. Does make you wonder if it was a Brit on holiday. Only road rage driver I've experienced in Spain was in a hire car, and that was relatively benign - brake check and windscreen wiper / fluid squirt.

@Smoggysteve I ran the numbers (because I'm a geek like that) and with a 5mph difference in speed, the car driver would need to see approximately 120 meters of clear road ahead before considering an overtaking manoeuvre of a 15mph cyclist in a 20 zone, and that doesn't account for the delay in the car accelerating from speed-matching to overtaking at the limit. If the cyclist was actually doing nearer 17mph (because the instructor was exaggerating the "slowness" of the cyclist) then the car would require more than 200 meters of clear road before attempting to overtake. Those kind of gaps aren't rare, but they're certainly not all that common either. Uncommon enough that overtaking should NOT be first instinct for the driver in that situation, but would be obvious if a suitable opportunity is missed.

Interesting segment on GB
Interesting segment on GB News this morning, where they brought up Nick Freeman and his ideas around e-scooters. They interviewed the director of government relations of Lime E-scooters, Alan Clarke. He made it clear that Lime e-scooter riders need to have at least a provisional driving license to ride one of their scooters, and that each scooter has a clearly identifiable registration to trace back the rider.
He differentiated between the (according to him) unregulated wild west of private escooters vs the sensible and safer lease environment.
I would guess that if such schemes are adopted and regulated in the manner he was discussing that there would be spillover into calls to regulate cycling in a similar manner, especially around motorised ebikes which I don’t think help traditional cycling.

A quick look outside my window leads me to conclude that it’s not the case. Many users of eScooters are clearly too young to have a provisional licence, there’s common use of pavements, multiple people on one machine etc. etc.
A more likely outcome is that eScooters will give cyclists a good name.

He won’t even get that potentially if which is why they want witnesses on his driving beforehand. We have seen people get away with no charges of careless driving on hit and runs. And, although it is more of a case of who it was, but we have also seen a drugged up driver get away with manslaughter of two pedestrians as the Police decided the accident would have happened even if he was sober.

Stating that the “van” hit the cyclist is misleading as it implies that no driver was responsible, but by stating “van driver” rather than “man” (or “woman”) it is implied that the vehicle is relevant to the assault.

Sorry, being flippant. However if I rode my bike into a pedestrian, the headline would be unlikely to read “pedestrian hit by push-bike”. It would probably be “Ped hit by cyclist” whether I meant to do it or not.

A very small 3cm by 3cm (might be oversizing it) plate above the rear light on the Birmingham ones. Useful for finding which one you have hired in a pack of 10 dumped together, not really useful for bystanders or CCTV though.

Saying that the victims should wear armour however, that they did say, even though the driver committed a crime and they are supposed to prevent crime and arrest the perpetrators when they commit a crime, they still blame the victims.
“That’s the law and we are dealing with the driver as such.” Even though it goes without saying that, because we’d rather blame the victim, and they didn’t bother mentioning that because they’re focussed on blaming the victim and telling people to wear magic hats.

The evidence that helmets prevent serious injury is, to say the least, questionable, but you prefer to ignore that and focus on what you think might have happened if the cyclist hadn’t been wearing a helmet. Not on what might have happened if the driver had carried out their legal obligations and actually looked where the fuck they were going.
Sorry for the length of that, and I feel better now, but it is clear that the Derbyshire Road Policing Unit is not fit for purpose, and should be immediately reassigned to directing traffic or helping old ladies across the road, duties I feel sure are within their capabilities. Well probably, anyway.

Seems like a sensible reminder to wear a helmet by showing a head (or helmet) shaped major smash on a car windscreen along with a description that the cyclist only sustained a minor injury (which would have been worse if they weren’t wearing one) despite the damage.
Now if they’d have said the crash was caused by a cyclist not wearing hi-vis / not having lights / some other superflous reason I’d understand what you wrote, but on this occasion they properly attributed the cause of the crash as “Car driver emerging from row of parked vehicles hits pedal cyclist riding towards her… drivers must ensure their path is clear before proceeding. That’s the law and we are dealing with the driver as such.”.
Seems very clear and uncontroversial to me, and indeed follows the guidelines that I saw mentioned on this very site a week or so ago. Ten out of ten to Derbyshire Police.
It would have been better if
It would have been better if they had urged drivers to consider parking in the same direction as traffic so that they have better visibility before pulling out of a parking space (Rule 248 applies anyway if they park at night). This could have been a bus that hit the car, and none of the passengers would have been wearing crash helmets. Perhaps they could have advised bus passengers to wear helmets incase some pr!ck pulls out of a parking space without indicating and checking it is clear. True that the helmet protected the rider from a more serious injury, and most regular cyclists wear one even if only to keep their head warmer during winter because that’s all that it can acheive when the collision involves a vehicle moving faster than 5mph.
