We often feature stories of cyclists who have ended up on motorways, often because they are unaware that bicycles are banned from them or have been led astray by a mapping app.

This cyclist filmed heading onto the M27 in Hampshire at the weekend however looks like he knew exactly what he was doing.
What’s more, he didn’t have any motor vehicles to contend with as he made his way onto the motorway.
That’s because it was closed between junctions three and four over the weekend for the partial demolition of the Romsey Road Bridge – where he would have encountered an impressive array of demolition plant.
The road will be subject to regular closures over the next 18 months as the old bridge is demolished and its replacement built.
Hampshire Constabulary is investigating the incident.

Why are they bothering to
Why are they bothering to ‘investigate’, who/where is the victim? We already know that like most forces Hampshire police don’t give a fuck about safety for vulnerable road users and brush off close passes as not worth looking into or an NFA, similarly when motorist decides to drive or park in a cycle only lane they won’t do jackshit.
We already know that even when the motorway is live the hard shoulder is far safer than urban roads in any case so why waste time on a non event when you’re already happy to ignore actual assault against the person crimes?.

To be fair, it depends what the ‘investigation’ consists of. I suspect it’s a word that gets used very loosely. It might not mean much at all here.
But, yeah, it would be strange, at a time when we are constantly told the police lack resources to follow up any number of serious crimes, to put any resources beyond a PCSO asking whatever witness there were if they knew the chap, into this particular investigation./
I wonder, is a motorway that’s closed still a motorway? If it isn’t the rider has done nothing much wrong. If it is, how can the repair vehicles be allowed to stop in all lanes?
It’s a shame the useless
It’s a shame the useless Hampshire Constabulary can’t be arsed to put as much effort into ‘investigating’ the theft of so many bikes ( mine included) around Southampton recently. They are a massively useless shower of shite.

I do wonder what (if any)
I do wonder what (if any) offence he is commiting considering the area is closed to motor vehicles. Possibly under HSE regulations if the area is part of a construction/demolition site, but as long as he has left safely I suspect HSE would be more interested in speaking to the site manager about why he was able to get there
There is no investigation. I
There is no investigation. I worked for the police for nearly 40 years, I recognise the language and what it means. Common sense will prevail; nothing will happen.

Yep! When Hampshire Police say they are investigating an incident you can rest assured that nothing will happen.
