What I’d really like to see
What I’d really like to see is more enforcement. It doesn’t matter what the penalty is if your chances of being caught are almost zero. The annual cost of the death and destruction on UK roads is £36 billion so you could make a strong economic case for more enforcement.
I’d like to see the law around careless / dangerous driving changed to have a more objective test. Too often dangerous drivers only get convicted of careless driving.
I’d also like to see longer driving bans, generally bans should be 2-3 times longer than the bans that are typically handed out currently. I’d like to see all driving bans be for a minimum of a year, and a minimum of 5 years if you kill someone (and 10 years be the typical ban for death by dangerous driving).
I’m not generally in favour of sending people to jail. But if you drive while banned then I think jail time would be appropriate in most circumstances.

Carbon bottle cage – 18g / £25
Plastic bottle cage – 30g / £6
I know which one I’d go for…

I think some of the larger train stations in London have showers (they certainly used to, but that was a long time ago). A gym that does Day Membership would be another alternative.
Last year I was cycling 32 miles to work on an eBike and not washing when I got there, so you might consider that.

As well as the insurance
As well as the insurance check mentioned, you can check if the car has tax and MOT here – https://www.gov.uk/check-vehicle-tax
If there are houses or businesses near the incident you could check if they have CCTV cameras. If you need witnesses then put posters up, or look for local groups on Facebook or Nextdoor and post a message there.

Thanks, I’d assumed the rules
Thanks, I’d assumed the rules for internet ads were the same as TV. Looks like the rules for internet ads aren’t quite as strict.
I don’t agree that it was clear that the Toyota ad “did not portray a real-life driving situation”, I thought it looked a lot like the top floor of a multi-storey carpark. Although I’d accept that such judgements are fairly subjective.

Depends on the bike and the journey. Pre-covid, quite often nothing at all beyond a wallet and mobile phone. These days it’s usually an inner tube, pump and tyre levers.
For longer journeys on my e-bike I take a bit more stuff – spare chain, multi-tool, hex keys, cable ties, disposable gloves, small first aid kit.
I have a frame bag on my road bike, my other bikes have panniers.

If price isn’t a factor then Cycliq or GoPro are probably your best options. Have a look at this article (and the comments on it) – https://road.cc/content/buyers-guide/how-buy-best-bike-camera-255982

In hindsight, it was perhaps a little rash spending £5,000 on a bike three days before the Brexit deadline.Bit of an understatement.

Aero wheels should make you about 3% quicker, whatever speed you ride at.

I vaguely remember reading about a study into this. The conclusion was that standing produces more power (so quicker) but sitting is more efficient.
I always sit and spin, worried about wrecking my knees.
