You know that the boards for most boardgames fold in half? 😉

(Or are you intending to carry a goban with you?)

It was a KickStarter one that got delivered to work – https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/253344/cthulhu-death-may-die

Still waiting for FrostHaven – that’s a big box too.

If my copy of Street Fighter ever shows up I’m probably going to need a cargo bike to transport it.

I’m the Local Legend on a running segment.

When Lockdown kicked in I started doing my running at the local business park, because it was pretty much deserted. Twice per week I’d run there and do half a dozen laps, so I’ve racked up 130 odd efforts on one segment over the last 90 days.

All seems a bit strange to me, I don’t really feel like I’ve achieved anything. I’ve not been running more often, or further, just always in the same place. But I suppose it’s just a bit of fun.

I do record all my runs and rides, so I can see how far I’ve gone in a year.

I have insurance through Cycling UK membership. Previously I had British Cycling membership, but Cycling UK offers Household Membership which means I can insure my wife too. The magazine they send you is usually reasonably interesting.

6 months insurance for £1 is a very good deal, but how much do they charge when the 6 months is up?

TFL – Speed, emissions & health:

    http://content.tfl.gov.uk/speed-emissions-and-health.pdf

The impact of cycle lanes on local air quality has not been evaluated. However, after protected cycle lanes are built, journey times tend to return to pre-construction levels, suggesting the lanes do not worsen congestion.

Furthermore, even where congestion marginally increases local pollution, the health impacts are likely to be negligible. Since air quality improves further away from traffic, protected cycle lanes can reduce pollutant exposure for people walking and cycling.

Reallocation of road space to prioritise the most space-efficient modes (walking, cycling, buses) and reduce private car use can decrease congestion and vehicle emissions city-wide.

A mixed commute would work in principal, but I’m trying to avoid driving as much as possible. Up until about 3 years ago I was driving 400 miles per week to get to and from work and I just got so sick of it.

Ribble looks great, but it’s a hub motor (mid-drive is better from what I’ve read) and it doesn’t look like you can remove the battery to charge it.

This data is taken from an insurance database and shows the percentages of drivers who had an accident in the previous 5 years vs the car the drive. It’s about 10 years old.

Generally BMWs are only slightly worse than average. White BMWs are the 2nd worst, beaten only by Grey Lexuses (Lexi?).

I have a couple of Polaroid Cube cameras on my bike, they’re only £35 each. They’ll do 1080p30 and overwrite old files. I use a USB power bank to get round battery issues.

I have those tyres on my commuting bike, never had a puncture.

If the towpath bits of your commute involve mud then you probably want the tour version rather than the road.

For commuting I’d go for 38c, maybe wider if your bike will take it.
