Hopefully soon, as it’s an in-stock S8i model (end of Generation 1) – belt drive and the confidence-inspiring Magura brakes. Three key factors in choosing the HSD over the GSD – (a) we only have one small child, so the extra capacity of the GSD would be surplus most of the time; (b) it’s intended to be a family bike, and my wife was less comfortable handling the extra weight of the GSD; (c) it just sneaks under my cycle to work limit.

Getting hold of the accessories may delay using it as intended though!

Pushed the button on a Tern

Pushed the button on a Tern HSD… I was initially thinking of a GSD or even an Urban Arrow, but with the sensible hat on, both are overkill for our use. Borrowed an HSD for the weekend and it does everything we realistically need.

I have been impressed with the puncture resistance of the Bontrager tyres that came on the Trek District I bought this year, right now at 2200 miles / 3500 km with no punctures. However, they are quite slow rolling with a woodenly harsh ride… The Trek is intended to be my “just works every time” commuting and pub bike

This weekend I rode my “just works every time” / “lock up and leave” bike for the first time in years (no longer commuting) – Genesis Day One single speed with Marathon Plus. I’d forgotten how much I like it – helped in no small part by being my only bike with a near-silent freewheel. I know others find the tyres lifeless, and I’m sure I’d notice a difference if I put some sportier rubber on, but they work for me (possibly mitigated by the steel frame) and there’s something very satisfying about knowing they’re virtually bombproof. I’ve only ever had one puncture with them – a six inch nail that gave an entry and exit wound. And I still finished that commute.

Wouldn’t work round me. Even as a pedestrian if you stand too still the movement sensors will cancel the request.

I thought the road was just closed, but this does sound inhuman – some of us just need to go in the night

    Accelerating hard through

Accelerating hard through effective chicane (in convoy with other team members), hits a wet shaded patch? https://goo.gl/maps/ybHPYjSFkuiKe5zB6

I wonder if the witnesses they spoke to included the pedestrian who appears to stop sharply as the car approaches from under the rail bridge

Perhaps we should club together to buy these hostages some draughts or dominoes to pass the time?

    Or a bed.
