Yes – but for me it’s happening in Chrome. I thought my employer might have changed some settings. Instead I’m now using my phone, where I can see the articles, but the payoff is the site keeps launching Ladbrokes ads in separate windows…

I recently took my Tern HSD on a GWR service, so same cupboard layout. Even if the chunky tyres had fitted over the hook, there’s no way I would hang it (~25 kg) off the front wheel (EDIT – nor would lifting it up there have been much fun – hurrah for the return of post editing!)

Thankfully (1) nobody else had reserved a space, because you wouldn’t have got 2 bikes in there; (2) it stands on its rear frame and then I locked it to the luggage rack to keep it upright – although of course there are signs telling you not to lock your pride and joy to the train.

Whenever I get the Ship of Theseus Captcha I just ask for a new one.

I don’t subscribe, so can’t see the underlying detail – but I assume Ecover being bought by SC Johnson contributes quite a lot to its poor score, as it at least professes to be quite good on ingredients.

I took the tramlines to be separating Mike’s words (above) from AI research (below). The emoji bullets and some of the phrasing smacked of AI to me, unlike Mike’s turns of phrase (I enjoyed “borderline-homeopathic”). But I’m sure Mike will correct me if wrong! Incidentally, my bottle of Ecover does list sodium chloride on the bottle, but no quantities. And it suggests dosing (for dishes) at just 3ml per 5L.

This seems a good opportunity to disprove the “yeah, but you can’t carry a fridge on a bike” brigade.

I don’t disagree, but I feel the AI (presumably) is somewhat missing the point when it says:

“So even under a pessimistic assumption, the salt concentration is hundreds to thousands of times lower than the salt exposure your bike gets from winter roads.”

Well yes, but I wasn’t planning to wash my bike with brine, so the question is really how it compares to other cleaners. That said, I’m bad for leaving winter grime on the bike, so maybe Fairy > Winter Grime is a fair comparison.

Replaced problematic valve core with one from a punctured tube – now working fine.

The bizarre bit though – I put the problematic valve core in the punctured tube as a test, and it inflated fine (well, apart from the puncture). Put it back on the tube it belongs to though, and the resistance is back. Put it back on the punctured tube, fine. *shrugs*

No, it’s a valve on an inner tube. If I remove the valve core, I can get air into the tube through the valve stem – but obviously can’t keep it there / at decent pressure while I refit the core. And if I clamp the valve core in the pump head (while it’s not connected to the tube) air seems to be flowing through the core. But as soon as I put the core back in the stem, the resistance returns. Will try a core from my pile of un-patched inner tubes…

The Tesla gets stuck on beach one? It’s only paywalled if you don’t want ads and cookies.

This may be a ‘me’ problem rather than a ‘you’ problem, but… if I click a link in the ‘latest comments’ carousel, I get dropped somewhere randomly in the middle of the relevant page – not at the latest comment, or the start of the comments section, or even the start of the article to which they’re attached – just somewhere random on the page.

Could we have an update on the migration and related issues?

Any prospect of an update on what’s going on with the website migrations? Feels like the community side of things is slowly dying as a result of usability…

I couldn’t keep pace at 25 – 30 either, but I would have thought over that distance they would still be visible on camera for the length of the lane, sufficient to demonstrate they were not using it for access. Filming it in the car may lead to a “we may also act on offences committed by the submitter” response.

Site is getting there… I see that replies to comments are now indented to make it easier to see what’s a reply. However, when you get to the 4th (or later) level of reply, the reply content is squeezed into a comically small column.

I can’t like andystow’s video post. Did the forum have likes before?
