Done. I also tapped up my parents for a tenner, which is included in the donation. They send their best wishes!

I would be a bit reluctant to publicise as well, but have no such inhibitions if it’s not me. Therefore, I hope you don’t mind that this morning I blatantly asked ice for a discount!

Seen it already… need to get onto my laptop first to donate though.

Don’t know why I didn’t think to start this thread though! Between this place and social media, £2.5k cant be impossible. Fortunately I guess he’s already got all the clothing, pedals etc.

Ere Dave, any chance of some fantasy cross racing or something? Tenner to enter, all proceeds for the above?

Mmm, malt loaf. Not tried it on the bike, I just love the stuff!

I use a lezyne snack pouch just aft of the stem, no melty chocolate!

There was a recipe on here I think some time ago for chocolate tiffin, that would be well worth trying.

    Agree with comments above,
Agree with comments above, but there is an absolute genius comment on there referring to Tominey’s assertion that “my late mother had an affair with a cyclist”:

    Comment:

“Mrs Tominey and I had a torrid affair back when Camilla was a little girl. She was pure filth, I did things to her you wouldn’t do to a farmyard animal.

What’s that Camilla? I shouldn’t attack dead people who have done nothing wrong and can’t answer back?

    Mmmmm.”

    Pure genius.

    I don’t suffer from
I don’t suffer from depression (I don’t think) but I do have times when I’m almost inert, like a feeling that I just can’t move to do anything. I’ve learnt that I have to apply real mental focus (actually learnt in martial arts classes) to do what I need to do (e.g. get ready) but then once I’m out, such feelings disappear.

When the weather looks grotty, I console myself with two things: if few(er) others are out training, then I’m catching them up fitness-wise, and that I get the chance to use the posh Rapha rain jacket that I got in a sale. Perhaps treat yourself to something fancy that makes the poor weather a positive?

The other thing is that I try to use familiar routes, but each one infrequently so that almost every ride I can secure a couple of personal records on Strava.

    Good luck and stay positive.

    DM’s point was that the
DM’s point was that the attitude towards anti-doping enforcement was so blasé within the peleton that the risk of it being used as evidence was near to nil. I would have been more sceptical if there had been a reasonable amount, or indeed unused syringes/vials.

Regardless, unless you wish to ignore an entire generation of the sport (which is your choice), you can either read:

    1. books by repentant dopers
    2. books by unrepentant dopers – I hear there’s a couple of these written in Texas
    3. books by clean riders or those who weren’t found out – fine, but you don’t get the insight that you can from number 1, and which of those really *were* clean?

No, but you can do something
No, but you can do something you regret, which makes it a mistake. Or at least, everyone else can, presumably (in order to occupy such high ground) you’ve never done anything you wish you hadn’t.

And while you are perfectly entitled to avoid furnishing DM with cash, you might find that reading his book will explain a few things.

Geraint’s a tough cookie and a good all-rounder. He may end up a classics specialist rather than GT contender, but I certainly wouldn’t bet against him. I don’t see how this paints him negatively?
