    Talking of adverts, and I

Talking of adverts, and I know it’s no longer on, but how did they manage to find so many horses that weren’t shit scared of bicycles to run with the cyclist in the Lloyds Bank advert?

    If that’s a quill, put a bolt

If that’s a quill, put a bolt in and give it a few taps with a suitable persuader.

    Well done Surrey.

Though just walking down queues of traffic at the lights would give you more…

I don’t think you can get a better bracket.

Relatively recently upgraded to an R4+ as I noticed they were no longer supporting the R4 and I have to send some batteries back for wire changes, but I have been running the District+ for almost a decade.

    Titanium fid, for opening up

Titanium fid, for opening up the plastic tube inside the cable outer.

Pricey, but had to have it, but it is shockingly useful for its intended task. Love to tell you where to find one but cannot find it.

    The last couple of Shimano

The last couple of Shimano free hubs I have had to replace, big pipe XT (old small pipe would last several rims…) buying the complete hub was cheaper than the freehub, so a new set of cones, bearings, fat pipe spindle and seals for nowt too…

I’d already got a good Park

I’d already got a good Park chain whip and now I’ve gone Rohloff for my main bike so cassette removal is much rarer, but if I hadn’t or was starting fresh I would want a Pedros vise whip or the decathlon simpler version and a Crombie, abbeytools if I was feeling flush or something cheaper if I could find it.

Having a handle on the cassette locking tool would have made my life so much easier, and abbeytools make some lovely stuff.

I’d worn out my Petzl, so

I’d worn out my Petzl, so much that the better 1/2 got me a newer one, for which I then got the shockingly expensive Petzl rechargeable triple battery. Invaluable, even more as my long sightedness gets worse.
