A new catch-all Tea Shop thread for those miscellaneous new stories that don’t quite fit with parking, crashing into buildings or trapped/prisoners in their homes.

Sittingbourne pensioner appears in court accused of running over a woman in Morrisons car park

It is alleged after initially knocking her over, the 72-year-old then moved his car while Mrs Newman, who suffered a broken pelvis and other injuries, was still on the floor and his vehicle then collided with her head.

Unusually, the CPS changed the charge from Careless to Dangerous and it was sent to the Crown Court to be heard next month.

An elderly woman collapsed crossing the road outside our house during the day a few weeks ago.

It’s just an estate road, not a through road to anywhere, and there are other access points into the estate.  My wife and another woman stayed out there with her for a couple of hours until an ambulance arrived (brought blankets out, but didn’t want to move her).

My wife said that “lots” of motorists mounted the footway to drive past the woman, inches from her head.

Apparently the police must had been notified too, because the woman was “blocking the road”, and it took a police car parked across the road at an angle and a police officer sternly pointing motorists back before people stopped just trying to sneak past…

    Drink-driver who called

Drink-driver who called police to fallen tree gets roads ban

She was initially compliant with police, who smelled alcohol on her when she was put in a police vehicle, but she later attempted to escape the car by climbing into the front seats and trying to leave through the door.

In mitigation, the court was told: “She did her civic duty by staying there and making sure that nobody else collided with the tree.”

    Whereas I would be surprised

Whereas I would be surprised if the police ever took any action over a road traffic offence- except those they punish because they don’t like the offender and/or for PR purposes

    Crazy decision. I know those
Crazy decision. I know those speedbumps can feel hard, but only at speed, if you slow down properly they’re totally fine. And why do people feel they need to drive quickly in a supermarket car park anyway ?

    Isn’t this degree of
Isn’t this degree of obstruction of view through the rear window subject to action by the police because it’s permanent? Rhetorical question only – we all know they won’t

    Nothing to do with cycling,

Nothing to do with cycling, and currently unclear as to what exactly happened.  But a child is dead, a tram line isn’t running services and (remarkably perhaps?) police are looking for a driver.

    I feel this person’s problems

I feel this person’s problems may be a little more deep seated than not wanting to pay ulez (although their car is exempt).

    Ashford only needs something

Ashford only needs something to break down or a slight accident and you might as well forget it as it’s gridlocked

And, yet, the b*****d cyclists still get through owing to the outrageous anti-motorist policies of this communist government, avoiding the consequences of the traffic chaos they cause!*!!
