In other words, both will perish. So, don’t close down the oil companies and soon enough there won’t be sufficient usable land to be able live in a tent and certainly no consistent way of growing food crops without guarded greenhouses. Not that a tent without air conditioning will be able to support human life in about a third of the world. Obviously we need to put our possessions at a much higher priority than people’s lives around the world.
If it’s essential to keep the pumps going for a while longer, then that should be under the control of elected representatives that have humanity’s future as a priority rather than under the control of greedy little businessmen that only care about the profits this quarter.

The oil companies are trying
The oil companies are trying to fool people into thinking that they’re not our enemies despite their decades of sabotaging environmental science and debate.
At some point we’re going to have to choose between our survivial and the oil companies’ survival and they’re desperately trying to push that point into the future. It’s the kicking the can down the road method of not actually addressing the issues.

How? Why?
Also, the obligatory “you can’t park that there, mate”
(…and why does the U.S. call the ground floor the 1st floor?)

Installing some cables is the
Installing some cables is the best bet. It also allows you to do fancy stuff like PoE (power over ethernet) which is great for things like external cameras – one cable for providing power and network connectivity, though PoE switches are more expensive than non-PoE ones.

quiff wrote:Thanks – see reply to Knee Yo for why I’m unsure about this. A difficult customer! You can get PowerLine nodes that have wifi built in, so it should be a case of plugging one in and it extends your wifi, but you may well have issues if you have different electrical systems.

If you don’t want to put in
If you don’t want to put in specific wiring, you could have a look at the PowerLine options – they use the power cables to transmit information between nodes so you connect one to your router and then plug in the other one(s) on different floors.

I hope you did report it
I hope you did report it online to the police. They might well say that it’s not necessary as they’re not going to do anything, but if collisions aren’t reported, then it throws off the road safety stats. Also, the driver’s insurance company would surely want to know about the collision so that they can adjust the driver’s premiums (they’re going to be far less interested in paying out money though). Additionally, incidents should be reported to avoid the “otherwise law abiding” defence used if the driver gets involved in another incident.

I’d rather consider that there’s now a cost to going around polluting and ruining people’s air and health.
