Running this one up the flagpole to see who salutes…

I just don’t remember this being a thing until recently, now it seems a daily occurrence.
Could it be that there are drivers not up to the job, too many cars; should houses be made to ride in single file, shops put on high viz, why are we putting newer buildings in danger like this, it’s irresponsible.

‘A Dorset Police spokesperson said: “Dorset Police was called at 12.48pm on Thursday, August 13, to a report of a collision involving a car and a wall outside Iceland on Poole Road in Bournemouth.

“It is reported that the vehicle was also in collision with a pedestrian, but they did not require medical treatment.” ‘

Also: No buildings harmed here, but if you look beyond the “re-design” headline, the person is making some good points about cars in Mevagissey.

We want the ducks to have a fair trial if they’re eventually accused of being behind this.

Have you not noticed that as the tide rises, the ducks somehow stay just on top. Not possible unless they’re somehow causing the tides.

Yeah, in a different world we’d be better at separating the sheep from goats for diversion to effective social service / mental health support early doors. Or – if we want to run a more individualistic model (like US) – just lock people up (or allow citizens to do DIY law and order). However it seems we’re falling between those stools, at least when it comes to the roads.

    More driver mental

More driver mental impairments being pleaded here like mixing it with driving is someone else’s problem.

Driver raced through town at 80mph before crashing outside school

A judge told Joshua Gillatt he had shown a ‘callous disregard’ for the safety of pedestrians and other motorists

Gillatt was sentenced to 12 months in prison. He will serve up to half that period in custody before being released on licence to serve the remainder in custody. The defendant was disqualified from driving for two years and the ban was extended by six months to cover the length of time he will be behind bars. Gillatt must pass an extended test before he can get his licence back.

Gillatt…admitted dangerous driving. He has 21 previous convictions for 44 offences including thefts, affray, common assault, harassment, and resisting arrest.

Matt Murphy, for Gillatt, said when the officer tried to stop his client he had “panicked” at the thought of a custodial sentence for the domestic allegations he was facing and had driven off rather than pulling over.

He said the defendant had recently been diagnosed with historical mental health issues including post-traumatic stress disorder, attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder, and generic anxiety…

    well done, Mr Friday

well done, Mr Friday afternoon Drunkie: it’s not like they haven’t got anything else to do:

A man has been arrested on suspicion of causing criminal damage while drink driving

“Three fire engines and the Technical Rescue Unit special appliance attended the incident where a vehicle had collided with a house and caused significant structural damage”

    You’re a surefire gamblin’

You’re a surefire gamblin’ man if you take chances at level crossings, so I suppose having your day(s) in court trying to minimise the incident/ your part in it is a logical sequence.

“…a man of previous good character.” I wonder with what hollow laugh local cyclists would greet that. Remorse? ‘…although the defendant denied dangerous driving he did “express concern as to how bad the incident could’ve been”‘ so that’s all right then.

    I’m assuming that the rail
I’m assuming that the rail operator has CCTV footage taken from the monitoring camera which makes his cock and bull story just lies. I wonder how much such defenses increase sentences on the basis of being dishonest and showing alack of remorse.

    Collisions between fast

Collisions between fast moving trains and cars tend to be ‘short-lived’. It’s the grief and misery thereafter that last forever. This bloke has got away about as lightly as he could have (along with 100 potential casualties on the train.)

I hope he’s learned his lesson. (Though the not guilty plea suggests otherwise.)

PS On the Eastern Daily Press

PS On the Eastern Daily Press site, there’s a “watch local videos” spinner in most stories, which has various dashcam compilations, including from a driving instructor under the category of “look what this idiot did”. I guess it’s designed to draw you in – and it works. The frame below, is as you probably can see, a dual carriageway…

    In Northamptonshire, it would

In Northamptonshire, it would be “ah but, the footage doesn’t tell the whole story”.

I don’t understand what mentality it is (RR driver, I suppose) that goes to court when it’s clear (so rattled was he by the “erratic motorcyclist” – right) that he pulled out and around the half-barrier, visibly down, behind the car.

A relief that it was an

A relief that it was an erratic motorcyclist that caused his momentary lapse of attention, not a cyclist, he probably could have got away with it otherwise.
