If it wasn’t for ‘group X’ then life in this country would be so much better…You’re missing the point.
When people put others into an out-group, it’s because of who they are (e.g. black, gay, squirrel fancier etc.) or the situation they find themselves in (e.g. homeless, asylum seekers, pregnant teen etc). Our complaints about the Tories is because of what they do and what they have done.
There’s certainly people who identify as Conservative and are aghast at how the government is behaving, but if you support the current government and their policies, then you are part of the problem.

Critical Race Theory is
Critical Race Theory is mainly an investigation into how and why society has systemic racism built into it. It’s a mix of history, sociology, pyschology, economics and politics.
As far as gender ideology goes, the more basic idea is to respect people and their choices. If someone wants to be referred to by a certain title or pronoun, then it’s just common decency to try to abide by that and not deliberately insult them.
In my opinion, the overriding characteristic of far-right politics is to designate an out-group as being a major cause of trouble to people/society/economics and to then de-humanise them and attempt to cause as many problems for them as possible. Obviously this is opposite to the purpose of human societies, where we should attempt to work together and help each other. It seems that the current major target in the UK are refugees that are being labelled as “illegal immigrants” and being denied appropriate channels to apply for asylum – hence the rise of “small boats” and the misery and deaths that go along with them.
Edit: Just seen this article on The Ganduria: https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2023/sep/01/home-office-defies-high-court-by-placing-100-asylum-seeker-children-in-hotels
It seems that deliberate cruelty is now a feature of our government and I blame everyone that voted for them.

Seems appropriate for a company called “Stagecoach”, but I thought that the horses would do the hard work. My, how the stables have turned.

The path directly in front of the school is also very narrow and cars drive fast and often mount the kerb to pass other cars. Vehicles already park all over the pavements and this will only increase if the size of the school increases.”
In response, the school has said it has been updating the travel plan to include initiatives such as Walk to School Week, pedestrian skills training and cycle training for pupils. A request has also been made to Essex County Council’s School Crossing Patrol Service for a suitability assessment for a crossing patrol near to the school site.
Essex County Council has acknowledged that these are “legitimate concerns” and that Bentley Primary is unusual in that it is located directly adjacent to a railway station and level crossing and near to a small supermarket, which add to traffic congestion at various times of the day.

I can’t help but think that training the pedestrians’ skills is the wrong way to address the issue. How about improving the drivers’ skills?

I think normally, the offending item that causes a puncture is best left in place – certainly for thorns as they soon get rubbed down, though I guess glass splinters are going to just worm around and do more damage.Sometimes the sealant needs to shut the hell up and get on it with its job. I hate it when there’s a bit of sealant flying off the front tyre each revolution. You just know that at some point the sealant’s going to run out and in the meantime it’s just spraying over your shoes.

I’ll add a caveat that I believe not all Di2 controllers come BT enabled with the BT module extra, but since the OP says it’s 11 speed Ultegra, they might be good to go.Unlikely – most 11 speed Ultegra bikes won’t include the bluetooth. They’re easy to add though, either through a small “pass-through” one that can sit in the seat tube under the battery or I fitted an MT-800 combination handlebar gear display and bluetooth module.

I use CaffeLatex and I assume
I use CaffeLatex and I assume that if it’s liquid that it’s still good.
However, a couple of weeks back, I was riding back from the office (just over 20 miles) and got a front puncture after a couple of minutes. It started spraying a small amount of sealant around and then seemed to seal, then after a bumpy bit of road, it started spraying again. I carried on riding, hoping that it would last the journey and attempted to help it seal by pushing my finger against the hole when I was stopped at traffic lights. Got back into Bristol with my front tyre at about 10 psi which makes for interesting handling with 28mm tyres.
Maybe next time, I’ll actually stop and attempt to fix it as I too carry spare sealant which might have helped.
(The front tyre was quite old and I’d planned on replacing it, so when I did, I found a small bit of stone embedded in the tyre which must have prevented the sealant from working properly)

peted76 wrote:Good to hear Ian, tubeless set up correctly just works.FWIW.. if your sealant is still viable from last year.. I’d guess you probably put in an awful lot of sealant. I use approx 40ml per tyre and check it about every three/four months with a small pipe attached to a big syringe (if it’s brown and clear it’s gone off, if it’s milky it’s good).
I was surprised by that too. I don’t know about sealant going brown, but I find it tends to disappear rather than “go off”. Maybe it depends on how many unseen tiny puncture that you get or permeability of the tyres. A three monthly top up of sealant works for me to ensure that there’s approx 40ml per tyre.

I’d rather see driving bans
I’d rather see driving bans being handed out like candy. First increase the police traffic presence which could be done cheaply with cameras (CCTV/dashcams/helmetcams) if they streamline their video submission portals. Ideally allow the police to issue short-term bans (e.g. 6 months or less) for simple offences, but allow the driver to contest it and have a court case instead, although the length of ban should then be doubled if found guilty to provide an incentive for drivers to just admit their guilt.
For any at fault incident that ends up killing someone, the driver should have their license revoked permanently. Whether or not a prison sentence is also applicable can be decided by the judges, though community service would seem appropriate in the less malicious cases.
Anyone caught driving whilst banned should immediately be sent to prison. This would need some of that increased traffic police presence or some widespread ANPR cameras to flag down suspicious drivers, especially with cloned plates. Maybe have driving with a cloned plate be a lifetime driving ban too.
If we can get the worst drivers off the road, then there’ll be less congestion and pollution.

Witnesses say the car in pursuit ended up speeding down Wilton Way towards a dead end and collided with parked cars before it reversed into a house and damaged more cars, including police vehicles, before coming to a stop on the pavement wedged between a car and a wall.
One resident had three cars damaged during the incident. The damage to the house was minimal.

When autonomous vehicles go bad

For driving offences, they
For driving offences, they need to bring in a driving test examiner to give his expert opinion on whether the driving involved would be an instant fail on a driving test. Then the judge needs to emphasise that the driving test standard is the minimum standard required for a careful driver and the jury needs to give their verdict accordingly.
However, judges and magistrates are also a problem when they give laughable sentences – there needs to be a review of traffic offences and sentencing guidelines. Hold on a minute, I think that was announced by the Tories about a decade ago…

That road looks quite familiar – I wonder what area that’s in.
Edit: they’ve posted it under “Horfield”, so not that close to me. Though I did live for a while on Broadway Rd – just a couple of houses away from The Young Ones house. (They’d turned Neil’s grave into a fishpond)
