What’s that phrase we have been hearing ad nauseam from Brexiteers since 2016? Something about you lost, get over it?Hopefully, it won’t be a simple lose/win dichotomy and the country will benefit from Starmergeddon (time will tell) and thus everyone will “win”. It’s not like the Brexit referendum where everyone apart from a small handful of people loses out.
I’m hoping that Labour will be looking over their shoulders at Green who put on a very good showing in Bristol. My area (Bristol East) had Greens come relatively close second place and of course, they won quite decisively in Bristol Central.

Louis photographed the residents of the road, curious how they ended up in such an inhospitable and polluted environment. In 1952, the great London ‘pea soup’ Smog led to the clean air act four years later. This inspired the project to make invisible pollution visible. By hanging the photographic prints by the roadside, the image surfaces collected dangerous road dust, which were then photographed using an electron microscope to make clear the dangerous particles that are invisible to the naked eye. This particulate matter is 2.5-10 micrometres wide, so small that it slips past our bodies’ defences; you can fit a thousand on the full stop at the end of this sentence. These particles penetrate deep into our respiratory and circulatory system, damaging our bodies.
The work draws attention to the invisible and dangerous impact of our love for fossil fuel powered motor engines.
Unfortunately, most of the particulate pollution ends up getting washed off into our waterways and certainly the tyre particulates are terrible for the health of marine life. However, there seems to be a national policy to keep polluting our waterways with the regulator being utterly toothless (e.g. if a pollution spill is reported late by a water company, then the regulator cannot measure the scale of it and won’t penalise the company for it).

I ended up voting labour after checking the tactical vote sites. I do wonder how many voted the Tories out rather than voting labour in.
The Tories have done more for Labour than Labour has.

Meanwhile, we have the Tories doing stuff like this: https://www.theguardian.com/politics/article/2024/jun/18/tory-candidate-accused-of-dog-whistle-tactics-against-rival-with-indian-name
[quote]A Conservative candidate has been criticised for sending letters to British-Pakistani voters allegedly insinuating they should vote for him instead of his Labour rival because of her Indian surname.
Marco Longhi, the Tory candidate fighting for re-election in Dudley North against Sonia Kumar, has been accused of using dog-whistle politics and attempting to “alienate British Hindus”.
In a letter to “voters of the British Pakistani/Kashmiri community in Dudley”, Longhi asked if the Labour candidate would speak for Kashmir in parliament. Kumar’s name was in bold, capitalised and underlined.
Rishi Sunak has been called to withdraw his support for Longhi and condemn the letter.

The cow was hit twice by a marked vehicle which the RSPCA said “appears disproportionate”.
The force released a statement saying that the cow’s owner had been located and its injuries assessed by a vet, who was overseeing its continued treatment and recovery.
It also said it would refer itself to the police complaints watchdog.
Meanwhile,
Surrey police have been widely criticised this morning after footage emerged of a number of their officers laughing and joking with a white cow, before returning it to its field with a comfortable ride in the back of a van.The video was released shortly after another CCTV recording showed a disturbing incident in which a black cow was repeatedly rammed by a police vehicle, despite having broken no laws.

Then they’ll probably pick an out-group to blame everything on and will try to send them packing on planes to Rwanda or something.
