I quite enjoyed that, I’ve sounded very similar behind chaingangs taking the piss a bit, long straights and the string out so you’ve no chance of passing even if you could.

He gave them plenty of room, ok, should not have been filming on his phone or whatever, if he had a handsfree and used that to film, it would have been ok. Give him a break, his driving was pretty safe, so apart from a little rant, which we all have from time to time, I’d just leave it there.

    Some of the best domestic
Some of the best domestic riders can’t ride in groups and especially not in Crits, so you are not alone on that. I won’t name any names, but there are a number in the mens and women’s tour series that you will see in one of two places, off the front attacking or sitting right at the back of a group, sprinting out of each corner to get back on, depending on the race they are having.

Crits are difficult to practice, you really just have to enter and see how you go, as long as you can get a couple of laps of the track to get to know the corners, don’t go pulling “chopper” moves, like slamming on the brakes in the middle of a corner because you’ve over cooked it, instead, roll out of it to the edge of the circuit so you don’t take anyone out.

Riding in a group isn’t a great help in a crit, because most courses string it out from the start to the finish with the speed and the nature of the cornering.

He’s not listed in the withdrawals on the official site, so I didn’t know, I’m not following the race, just doing the points and I’m not searching every rider to see if they are in or not, I just go with what the official site says. So if he’s not on the list, he’s still in.

Was it the TTT he pulled out?

    Nope, if you are qualified
Nope, if you are qualified for both, then you can race both.

If the qualifying event only had a road race and you were in the top 25%, then you can register to race both, but because Cambridge had separate events, then you had to qualify from both.

How do I qualify for these World Championships?

You qualify when you finish within the first 25% of your age group in one qualifier event of your choice. The age groups are: 19-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65+ for both males and females. If you qualify, you’ll get an invitation mail from the UWCT Corporation inviting you to register for the World Championships. In races with only a road race, you can qualify for both the time trial and the road race World Championships. In races with both a time trial and road race event, you will have to qualify in both disciplines separately.

I qualified for the Time Trial but not for the Road Race. Can I register for both?

No, in qualifier events with both a Time Trial and a Road Race, you have to qualify in both disciplines separately in order to get the ticket for that specific discipline. In events with only a Road Race, all qualified riders can register for the Time Trial and the Road Race.

As far as I know, you can’t just have a league for one race, it will always include your season scores. I could be wrong, but I never use leagues.

Dave is currently in America, but he might see this.

Did you finish in the top 25%
Did you finish in the top 25% of your age group?

I was going to be down as I had a few riders doing the TT and RR, but couldn’t make it, one of the riders had qualified for both races in Denmark, which I can’t make either because of commitments in Ireland #o
