We are not short on man
We are not short on man power, we have enough races already though, if we keep adding and adding, it dilutes the game. We have already added some races that we didn’t even have scheduled at the start of the year.

Indeed, I’m just waiting for the correct information for the race and then adjusting it accordingly, It will close around midnight on Saturday.

I don’t think they would need
I don’t think they would need to be near the servers, they could have remote access, unless it actually goes down, you should be able to get into it remotely.

Even then, someone would charge a fortune for doing it, they would also need to know what they are doing regarding the game functions. So it’s not just a simple, boom boom boom, fixed. Dave’s put alot of work into the game, knowing him, it will be a complex server, lol

I’m actually quite disappointed in this outcome…

I don’t think anyone mentioned money… and the money really wasn’t the point…

The game was unusable for approx. 20hrs before the deadline….

So no Purist team and no Italian team… so two thirds of the ‘fun’ has gone.

I understand that Dave & Team (and they do a great job !) have to have their days off… but this time I think it has been handled badly… with a solution that doesn’t solve the problem a lot of players experienced.

No teams and a reduced number of available transfers.

It wasn’t unusable, it was slow, that has been shown by the number of teams who still managed to get teams in while the server was having issues.

We don’t have “days off” but if we have events to be at or rides that are scheduled, we take over scoring from each other. It just happens that Dave had something one when the server had an issue, which is not predictable and with Dave being the only one who does the server side of things, we were helpless to do anything to sort it.

There was no simple solution, because the majority of teams managed to put riders into their rosters, if we removed all stage 1 points, it would penalise more than it would help out by about 98/2….with over 1600 teams in, there were less then 50 teams that I can see who were affected.

Got 123 on my first stage of the year plus 7, also got Gerrans of course. Pity about Modolo getting bumped by Matthews though! Usual Giro chaos, but no-one seriously hurt by the look of it.

It was Greipel that took Modolo out, he was on Matthews wheel and Greipel shouldered him out

The forum only ever gets used
The forum only ever gets used for problems and complaints, I don’t see many of the over 1500 teams who were not affects coming to have their say, only the minority, who unfortunately could not get a team in.

I’m off to bed now. As I keep saying, I suggest you play as the game is at the moment, nothing is going to change before the morning and I doubt it will be neutralised at this late stage.

    I don’t know how many times I
I don’t know how many times I can say it, Sanderville, if you look a few comments up. Dave is away, there will be NO official decision made until his return.

In the mean time, Stage 1 scores stand and we get on with it.

    In hindsight, no, maybe not,
In hindsight, no, maybe not, but then there was no way to foresee problems with the server, whatever they were, when it had been running fine the rest of the season.

    I can understand you Simon,
I can understand you Simon, but I cannot just nominate myself to speak on behalf of Dave. For all I know, he could be away on another 600km Audax. Not knowing when he will be around to make a decision, all I can do is say that the points stand and we have to go with that.

I’ve made decisions like this before in the game and it has backfired because either I did something wrong in the back end or Dave reversed the decision, so this if why I am holding back from making the final decision.

    Gkam84

Dave is not around, you won’t
Dave is not around, you won’t get word from him. Those of us running the game got an email the other day to cover the races because he’s not around.

    Gkam84

I can’t make the decision, so
I can’t make the decision, so I don’t know. Dave is away as far as I know, so I would sort out your team on the current situation and not hang on till the last moment.

IF I could make decisions, the scores would stand as they are, I know there were problems with the server, it was slow last night and through to this morning, then it went down (I believe this is when Dave was fixing it) and it came back on around half 10 and worked from then on, with the deadline being shifted to let people get teams in.

    Gkam84

We’ll see what Dave says, I
We’ll see what Dave says, I don’t know a way to change the transfers apart from adding more. I like many set my team up for certain stages, so to lose stage 1 points is going to piss me off.

    Gkam84

I can see your point fingus,
I can see your point fingus, but the majority of people had a team in and ready for stage one, by neutralising the stage, you are punishing the many to benefit the few.
