I don’t think any of this is helped by Tesla moving completely away from using Lidar sensors, and relying on vision based systems. Can’t help feeling that’s a huge retrograde step, and hope the hints about them going back to it, or high resolution radar, come to something.

Thoughts ? They’re one of the most well known manufacturers outside of the China internal market, and have an increasingly good reputation for decent kit, especially some of the Hyper wheels which seem to perform extremely well, with a good following. Given they even impress Hambini, i’d say that they’re probably a good bet technically in general.

QR thru-axles I’ve seen have all been much quicker when removing the front wheel, wee bit slower on the rear.

    They do, because to avoid
They do, because to avoid weighing an actual (Imperial) ton they’re often made with narrow section tubing, which consequently flops around like a noodle. I mean a rather robust noodle, to be fair, but one none the less. Used to try and watch mine bend by slamming the front brakes on BITD. What fun.

Um, no. What made you think that ?

Yeah, plenty of people have done so, worth checking Velonews (and elsewhere) for various articles on this e.g. https://www.velonews.com/gear/drivetrain-compatibility-hidden-in-plain-sight/

Technically there are fractional mm differences in cog spacing, but for all practical purposes it should Just Work. Also if this is for the trainer then any ERG mode stuff is only going to use a single front/rear cog combination anyway, so that’d be good with anything (preferably small chainring at the front)

    Exactly, it’s to help
Exactly, it’s to help businesses reopen in a responsible manner. The fact that it might possibly add a handful of seconds going up to Hampton Road, or down to Whiteladies, seems an eminently reasonable exchange to me.

If you are willing to experiement stay with the SS and try 11-32 with a longer b screw (ebay for a couple of quid).  If fails then update rear mech to GS.

..or a derailleur hanger extender online (~£5-20 depending on provenance), but i’d give the SS/longer screw a go as suggested – more than likely work (and try the B-tension screw round the other way if necessary/not long enough).

The 40T should be OK with the R7000 GS (or the R8000 or even 6800 GS, the Shadow-based mech are apparently better though) but 42T would be a stretch without a hanger extender (look on eBay for RoadLink-alikes for a few quid).. or indeed most Shimano 11-speed or newer 10-speed road stuff in medium/long cage. Won’t have the clutch, hence suggesting the GRX 400, but that may not be a massive issue to the OP.

Left field might be an S-Ride RD-M520C rear mech if there’s one you can get.
