sorry for the delay but the answer was in the next sentence: “The self-serving, self-entitled liberal elite”, that’s what.

He probably means things like natural justice, due process, the rule of law, fairness in the way crime is charged and is dealt with by the courts, sentencing – all that imperfect, difficult stuff. 🦘 I doubt he wants swifter justice for cyclists, by the way.

Indulge me for a moment, the next bit reminded me of a dressing p-down a group of us got from our headmaster: “They have let this country down. They have let the British people down.”

Our school only put up one team for Young Enterprise that year, and we were terrible. For me it was an early lesson in the effects of privilege – of course the local private school teams did better – connections and patronage etc. Our school was the location for the awards ceremony and the home team (not that anyone told us this) were expected to host it.  We decided to stay away.

Anyway:  Enough. Now is the time for Reform.”

Isn’t it cyclists who are all

Isn’t it cyclists who are all dressed in black?

Anyway, get ready for this tear-jerker:

Bournemouth: Safeguard Force ‘disheartened’ following meeting

Assistant Chief Constable Mr Callaghan added: “The organisers have been unable to provide reassurance that this group has sufficient safeguards in place to ensure volunteers are adequately vetted, trained, and equipped to undertake high-visibility patrols in the community.

My Newsthump headline for next week is BOURNEMOUTH – Safeguard Force : penny reported to have “dropped”

“In a startling new development, it has been revealed that the Safeguard Group has taken up more police and council time in just a few weeks than a year’s worth of their activities (with a following breeze) might possibility ever have saved.

I’m actually quite wary when I see other cyclists coming towards me with a car following – there’s a high likelihood (as drivers process one bit of road information every 2-3 seconds) that they will MGIF their way into me.

    Over in fleet management

Over in fleet management there is a growing range of in vehicle tools (the good news is there’s money in reducing insurance costs, maintenance costs, losses and claims) that could be used to stop any unsuitable driver – at government level it’s now a positive choice no to do more of this.

    Why look a vigilante patrol

Why look a vigilante patrol has started up in Bournemouth this week.  A battery of recent headlines imaged below.  I thought the. “no unspent convictions” line this week was good, but today’s story about the founder’s social media tops it

    https://www.bournemouthecho.co.uk/news/25393894.concerns-inclusive-patrol-group-anti-migrant-posts/

“Addressing concerns over the gun image, he said: “I categorically state that this was taken out of context.😅

“It was not connected to Safeguard Force and did not promote violence in any way. I understand how it could be misinterpreted, which is why we are careful that official Safeguard Force communications focus solely on community safety and reassurance.”

Mr Bartlett, who runs a small Dorset business, also confirmed that he set up the Facebook group Taking Back Our Country.”

We’re in Piranah Brothers territory here, I think https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8ZkWL-XvO0U (“there was none of that – that was definitely out”)

So begins the long slog of a claim for compensation from a driver who is prepared to try to lie (to the police) his way out of responsibility. Have the police taken Statements? Are you OK? Like should you be checked over?  Where you ended up, any injuries, the state of your bike and the broken door mirror are all bits of evidence you may need.

    Plans to offer free parking

Plans to offer free parking in Cardiff met with fury

Cardiff Council recently announced it would change its plans on car parking charges to allow stays of up to 30 minutes free of charge

Slightly misleading headline – plan A was for no free parking, plan B – you might as well paint a target roundel on it – is 30 minutes free which will please no-one (not least if the idea was to encourage more cycling and walking trips)
