‘Catastrophic’ car ban which sparked protests in Paignton could be scrapped
Traders said it turned the resort into a ‘ghost town’

It’s not a spot I know; I can think of some quite old town centre pedestrianisations and I’m not convinced that the full-on approach is best. But cars will be crap where ever you allow them.
People are poorer/ have less disposable income (I won’t go into why), we all know about on-line (although some trades don’t seem to have worked out what they can do to fight back).
I think of some town centres where there’s been some environmental enhancement in the centre, but the whole place is cut off from its surrounds by a combination of (i) the local river (ii) relief road / iffy underpasses (iii) string of iffy car parks – particularly after shop hours.
I just wonder whether allowing cars again here is going to be the shot in the arm the traders are imagining.

I’m not super well-versed on TNG, but where the heck did this “I love you, Data” baloney come from? Picard besotted with his laptop; that’s before becoming one himself, of course.
Mixed feelings about Data requesting to be deactivated as the ultimate human act and Picard pulling his USB sticks out one by one. Death isn’t something you just dip into (and out of).
Lower Decks looked like a tweenager comedy from the trailer. Can only be an improvement on the 1970s TAS – who remembers?

keep pushing that driver
keep pushing that driver privilege, Cllr Toms
His voice cracking with emotion, Looe councillor Armand Toms told the Conservative cabinet:
“I’m going to challenge you all the way on this because you’ve hurt the people of Looe, you’ve hurt the businesses of Looe and that’s why I’m here to make sure that the voice of Looe is heard. I’m shouting it as hard as I can because nobody else in the chamber seems to care about 5,300 people. You’ve done the same to Seaton and Downderry where you’ve put their charges up too… You don’t care – you really don’t.”

Southampton drink-driver hid
Southampton drink-driver hid in bushes after fleeing scene of crash
pretty sure we’d have had the original story of this, which happened last November
“Mitigating, Stephen Tricker said Tudorache left the scene with good reason.
He said: “He was surrounded by a number of people and he was concerned for his safety.
“He returned to his home address, which is only a few yards away, and he was not difficult to trace as the car is registered to him.”
