A new catch-all Tea Shop thread for those miscellaneous new stories that don’t quite fit with parking, crashing into buildings or trapped/prisoners in their homes.

” It would take an
” It would take an exceptionally reckless idiot to put literal bull horns on the front of a monstrous-sized SUV and then drive it around an urban area. Especially knowing that those horns are at the exact perfect height to inflict fatal injuries to a child. And yet that is what this driver did.
The photo is from an account that documents Roads Police activity. The vehicle was stopped by the police “

In theory Dun runners should
In theory Dun runners should cross the a140 within the protection of the fixed camera,
which they claimed he obeyed the limit for.But then youre on the B1078 all the way to Heminstone where the paper claims he lives, and i suspect he disagrees with those speed limits too, especially the newer ones designed to slow people down driving through Heminstone & Otley, not convinced its working myself but then i see little evidence of enforcement.
Unsurprisingly it should be of no surprise 1200 drivers can be caught in a month at Barton Mills when they do try.

And I’d suspect it would be similar story on most rural roads near major trunk roads in Suffolk

Wouldn’t it be much better if
Wouldn’t it be much better if the sea detected when the cars were coming, and it got out the way?

Apologies – that’s a ridiculous idea. It’s ignoring the fundamental problem, which is tides. We should fix the moon – if it didn’t keep moving then this wouldn’t be a problem.
(What we got: our smart scheduling apps which we increasingly rely on to ensure we “get the most out of our busy lives” can now suggest when we should go to the beach – avoiding the tides. This is great until a) everyone in an area shows up at “the best time” at a small local beach at once and b) it turns out the system was buggy / “it’s a bit more complicated” and the tide doesn’t cooperate!)

Bus company wants talks with new Cambs mayor over roadworks and traffic jams
Stagecoach East warned of “tough choices” and said bus operators also want to raise the issue of cycle lanes and bus priority
“Cycle lanes” isn’t expanded upon in the story.

I was going to post this one.
I was going to post this one…down the Ipswich Star rabbit hole from a post elsewhere. Utter pillock. I have crossed over this road turning towards Coddenham (along with hundreds of Dunwich Dynamiters) and I’m glad it was long after this baby’s bedtime.

Popular car boot sale causes
Popular car boot sale causes ‘gridlock’ and delays of two hours in Welsh village
People said the boot sale caused a complete ‘gridlock’, adding: ‘It’s chaos’

UPDATE: whingey comment from the organisers
Organisers of car boot sale which saw gridlock on roads say abuse is ‘beyond’ as they respond
People caught in delays coming into the village said it was ‘chaos’ but the club says it’s a “small price to pay” for the green space

and thats why I never ride on
and thats why I never ride on the A140, or like even going near it much.
the guy must be quite new to the area,as the road is notoriously known for the deaths, often caused by speeding that happen on it.
only data I can find is from around 1980 to 2005 over 70 people were killed & over 1500 people injured, thats why the speed limits are there for, and the speed camera, both fixed and mobile are there because idiots like this dont get to decide whats safe and what isnt, and its worked, in that people dont die as often, but its not a road thats safe.
just cant believe they let this one go on such a ridiculous technicality, as clearly the idiot hasnt learnt anything, no doubt drives like a twunt on the B1078 too.

67 in a 50 but gets off due to lack of evidence
Then goes on to say
While he admits speeding, Mr Ford argues that the section of the A140 near Ipswich is “excessively slow” and additional cameras are a “highway robbery”.
What a sense of entitlement

This should be interesting.

Proving that (no surprise) what most people want from “the great outdoors” is a convienent car park – and perhaps the opportunity to get some food and drink.
Some residents have adapted well though and say what they need is moar car parks as “it’s not a sleepy village of a couple of thousand people that just live and work here any more.”

I quite liked the comment
I quite liked the comment that you can’t see the kerb from the driver’s seat.
Just as well it’s high kerb otherwise you’ll kill a child or animal. Are these drivers really that utterly stupid ?

As the vulnerable road user,
As the vulnerable road user, you usually have to do drivers’ thinking for them – remember, be road savvy to avoid getting into situations like this – oh.
