    Reason for the sale? Vendor

Reason for the sale? Vendor should be able to say what he’s used it for, the 2000 km. If it’s “dunno, I’m selling it for a mate/relative” be very wary. The main thing apart from has it been stolen is has it been crashed – as others are saying.

Are the wheels reasonably true, do the gears and brakes work? Does the seatpost move ok?

Apply the front brake and push back and forth for headset issues (might only be grease or adjustment needed), and wibble both rims for play. You ideally want the chain off to check the cranks – they too should turn smoothly without play.

Expect to replace chain, bar tape and probably tyres.

it’s one thing to read about

it’s one thing to read about a bike online, it’s another thing to find it in stock for delivery and depending on where you are, to see and try it in person before buying.

I’d want to be very confident about site security before commuting on a brand new bike at this price range.

If you’re in it for the long run, I suggest you look towards the touring side of the market. Hills, carrying stuff, running lights and not quite as “hot” (nickable), more room for chunkier tyres and for mudguards.  You can’t beat a dynohub system for winter.

    Dammit!

Referee! Clearly an instance of Sexty’s Pass here – there’s no R in the month, so I think we’re still in play.

    So while drivers are busy

So while drivers are busy saying “make things even easier than they already are for us”, over in reality-land there’s this.
This govt hates public transport users / anything that makes Life that little bit easier for people.

And when you do manage to get on a train, the posters and announcements are all full of dire warnings of revenue protection officers and penalty fares.

Lezyne 1500 XXL Super Drive –

Lezyne 1500 XXL Super Drive – nice and bright for dark lanes,  but “rubber” integrated hbar mount doesnt look replaceable and is the wrong mix of easily removable and theft-proof – not one I’d subject to daily on/off wear.

in country dark, I ran dynohub, Niterider usb (got stolen) and CandBseen battery system (company now defunct, I think).
