Prologo updates saddle range with CPC Airing tech

Prologo has updated its saddle range with a development of its CPC (Connect Power Control) tech called CPC Airing that’s claimed to offer greater shock absorption and airflow than before.

CPC is a super-grippy polymer that Prologo has using for a few years now to provide grip while absorbing shock and vibration.

We first spotted CPC Airing on Alberto Contador’s saddle at the Tour de France. That was the final version although previous designs had been tested by the likes of Rui Costa.

“The CPC Airing has been developed with a specific morphology and a hexagonal 3D design that is raised a few [fractions of a millimetre] from the saddle cover,” says Prologo. “These innovative micro hexagonal cylinders are made with a special Nano Technology polymer and never alter their mechanical characteristic (any atmosphere conditions, from rider’s weight, from intensive use, etc).”

Prologo claims that CPC Airing offers 15% more shock absorption than before and an airflow effect that’s 10% greater than previoiusly.

The Prologo Nago C3, Zero C3 (£324.99), Scratch 2 (£224.99), Nago Evo (£214.99), and Zero II (£209.99) – all carbon-railed saddles – are available with the new CPC Airing, so it's high end only, at least for the time being.

How do you know which saddle is right for you? You can go to a dealer and use Prologo’s MyOwn fit system which takes a few parameters like the width of your ischial bones, your back flexibility and your BMI to suggest the best choice.

Round (from side to side) Scratch saddles are for riders without much lumbar flexibility, flat Zero saddles are intended for those with a high level of flexibility, and semi-round Nago saddles are for those who are down the middle. 

The new Prologo Nago C3 CPC Airing saddle comes with Nack rails (nano carbon structure integrated with Kevlar and alloy fibres), measures 275 x 139mm, and weighs a claimed 139g. That really is super-light for a padded saddle.  

The flat Zero C3 is a little smaller, measuring 270 x 132mm. It uses the same Nack rails and weighs 164g. 

Prologo also categorises each saddle as either ‘performance’ or ‘endurance’ to help you make your buying decision. All of the new CPC Airing saddles have the performance tag, as do all other saddles with Nack rails and most of those with TrioX steel rails.
