Clothing brand Huez*, which brought us the £400 Sports Tailored jacket and £185 Softshell Sweat Hood, is branching out and launching its own bike brand. Who saw that coming?
Huez* has collaborated with Max Lelli who brings his experience to a range of three carbon fibre bikes. The first bike the company is launching is this Shimano 105 model costing £1,600. It hasn’t revealed details about the other models yet.
Who is Max Lelli? He’s an ex-professional Italian racing cyclist who competed in 14 editions of the Tour de France. He competed between 1989 and 2004. Look him up on Wikipedia if you want to know more about the man, it makes for interesting reading.
After hanging up his shoes, he turned his attention, and considerable experience, to making road bikes. He launched his first range in 2007 at the Eurobike show in Germany.
Huez* formed a partnership with Max to create its own range of carbon road bikes after riding with him in Tuscany, Italy. The plans for the own-brand bike range includes two bespoke models and this off-the-shelf road bike, which with a Shimano 105 groupset, Vision Team 25 wheels and FSA finishing kit, will cost £1,600.
The frame and fork is constructed from carbon fibre with 3K weave carbon used in key places, with Max Lelli’s signature bladed aero fork. There’s an oversized bottom bracket and the cables are externally routed.
The frame is finished with a pink fade into deep purple, reflecting Huez*’s brand identity, with Max Lelli and Huez*’s logos feature on the bike to remind of the partnership.
