The jersey has had a makeover for 2017, with the weight coming in at 112g thanks to the light fabrics used. dhb's Hydrofit technology aims to deal with moisture management and sweat dissipation, and there's also added antibacterial treatment to keep the jersey fresh. The close fit is designed to minimise air resistance when in a low road riding position and ensure none of your energy is wasted by excess flapping fabric.
In terms of construction, there's flatlock stitching throughout and not too many places where I fear there could be snags. A wide hem with silicone gripper around the waist and sleeves is comfortable and prevents irritation, with some thicker silicone around the hips to make for a tighter fit.
The sleeves are a close fit without being too tight and leaving unsightly marks, as you can get with poorer quality jerseys. The collar is nice and soft, the zipper causes no irritation, and there are also some reflective details on the back just in case your evening ride runs over a little.
At the rear are three open pockets and one side-loading zip pocket, giving you plenty of options for nutrition and tool storage. The pockets are lifted at the bottom to prevent sagging and separate them from the back section – this is the only place where I'd be concerned about the seams coming apart over time.
As well as being comfortable, the jersey is highly breathable. During a holiday to Lanzarote, riding in temperatures of up to 30°C, I didn't once overheat or feel restricted in any way. The Aeron Speed was the jersey I kept coming back to on this trip, and it kept me as cool as you can be kept while climbing in the brutal volcanic Canarian landscape. The fabric also wicked sweat away quickly, noticeably so when riding into a headwind, and felt reasonably fresh at the end of my rides, making for a comfortable experience all-round.
The Aeron Speed offers some SPF 30 sun protection, but the mesh panels don't provide any – this includes most of the back section and the short sleeves, so I'd recommend you top up on sunscreen underneath this jersey if you're riding for long periods in the heat.
While the dhb brand arguably doesn't hold the same prestige as the Castellis of this world, the £55 price tag is very reasonable – it's less than all of the race-fit jerseys in our pick of the 15 best for summer, barring the Altura Podium, and as it offers more mesh panels and venting I think dhb's is probably better for warmer weather.
In summary, if you want a cool looking race jersey which is highly breathable, with a close fit, and won't break the bank, the dhb Aeron Speed is a great choice.

Tell us what the product is for, and who it's aimed at. What do the manufacturers say about it? How does that compare to your own feelings about it?
The Aeron Speed is a race jersey with a slim cut, "designed to fit a lean build" according to dhb. While I'm not exactly a lean build, I found this jersey fitted me fine as the fabric is plenty stretchy enough to fit broader riders too.

The jersey is made in Romania, and due to the flatlock stitching throughout there aren't many places where the seams are likely to come loose. The pockets are stitched on separately from the back section to prevent them from sagging.

The Aeron Speed lives up to its name, and is ideal for fast riding. In single figure temperatures it's probably too light and airy, but for the spring and summer months it performs superbly.

After lots of use my jersey is still good as new.

It's a tight race fit as dhb describes, so if you're stockier then it's wise to size up.

The Aeron Speed is cut close to the body for a race fit, and also sized up quite short in the body for me. If you're long in the torso it may be worth sizing up.

Rate the product for comfort:
9/10
The Aeron Speed is more comfortable than I had expected. The tight fit means there's no need for the thick silicone all the way round the waistline, which helps with comfort. The sleeves are also very comfortable, as is the soft collar, and there's no irritation from the zipper.

Around the £50 mark jerseys tend to be more leisure-orientated, with brands tending to charge a bigger premium for racy numbers. At £55 the Aeron Speed offers great value for money in comparison to similar products.
How easy is the product to care for? How did it respond to being washed?
The deep red test jersey looked as if it could suffer in the wash, but five washes in and plenty of usage later and it's kept its colour completely.
Tell us how the product performed overall when used for its designed purpose
During a holiday to Lanzarote, riding in heat of up to 30°C, the Aeron Speed was the jersey I kept coming back to. It kept me as cool as can be while climbing in the brutal volcanic landscape, and when I hit a section riding into a headwind the sweat was dissipated quickly.
Tell us what you particularly liked about the product
I liked the cooling properties and the design, and found the sleeves particularly comfortable. The jersey slips on with ease, and although it's tight, it doesn't feel at all restrictive and it's featherlight.
Tell us what you particularly disliked about the product
Nothing really, though the lack of sun protection in the mesh sections could be problematic for some.

How did you get the SPF protection information? I found that very useful but cannot see anything on the Wiggle website.
It is there in the Description panel

Got the women version for a bargain (<AUD40), it has really good fit(eu/pro fit), light and breathable. Good value for the price. Only two drawbacks: 1) it is so light that it is a bit see-through. 2) Not very durable, after 5 months of heavy use, the jersey got quite saggy.
Great jersey for the price, bought same colour too. Probably going to buy another in different colour as well.
