Summer is grand, but autumn is best: not too hot, but still lovely, beautiful light and I'm still fit from the summer kilometres, but have no actual training goals left.
Cold Autumn mornings and twilight provide everyday stoke. Fog layers the parks, stags bellow and papery orange leaves blaze. Yup, sometimes there’s blustery rainfall, but riding through the light air afterwards and checking out the cloud formations above is an ample reward. I get up early – and try to leave work early – to extend my cycle-commutes and wring as much riding time out of the day before the night closes in. These chilly days are also a plus for a sweatbeast like me!
Summer definately - minimal kit, getting a tan, long days and long rides..... then a pub garden after cant be beaten
Deep winter, ideally cycling out in the peak district with high winds and snow, thinking of this years milan san remo......
Wah
Spring. Between the showers. Refreshing to get out into that warming spring air after the winter, and to see the new wildlife emerging again.
Choose a favourite season for cycling? It's like asking me to choose between my children! I love them all equally: Spring for the days getting longer and the smells, summer for the weather and the re-emergence of the fair-weather riders who are ripe for torturing, autumn for the crisp, bright mornings and winter for the looks on my workmates' faces when I'm sat at my desk at the usual time and they've spent hours trying to shift their cars out of the snow.
This time of year. Clear autumn mornings. Just a shame the light closes in so early in the afternoon.
has to be summer, either an early summers morning watching the sun rise or cycling at night in shortsleeves
Late Spring, Early Summer when the Sun rises while you are on an early morning ride.
Winter, as long as it's dry.
Mainly because I really enjoy wearing roubaix tights. Plus who doesn't like hitting a spot of black ice?
Autumn Mornings
Early summer, being able to get out regularly.
I'd have to say summer, I love feeling the warmth of the sun and not having to worry (too much) about the conditions changing!
Summer definitely the preferred season, because I can then ride my favourite bike! But quite like all the seasons, and there's something very satisfying about completing a long cold/wet ride.
Well it has to be summer, in the south of France, riding up the Tourmalet.
If not.....then the never ending winter is what we are stuck with and I still ride almost every day, so it has to be that !
Winter - on the day that you've got your clothing nailed and the 75kg guy next to you is dying.
Late spring for me. I continue to cycle throughout winter so I am not stiff come spring. But I think it is the best. The evenings are starting to lengthen and the mornings brighter this leads to better visibility, while my lights are adequate they are no match to that burning orb we call the sun. I'm back in my shorts and short sleeved tops again; I dislike having to cycle in long trousers, but for me 5 is my short-point line, above that I am comfortable in shorts, below that I need something more substantial.
Also, the weather is improving and the rain jacket is less frequently called up, but it is not too hot to slug out across mid day and not so cold that the air takes your breath away.
The lambs in the field and the re-birth of the landscape from the cold barren winter is just pure joy to witness.
Any, as long as it isn't raining! I do prefer a warm summers morning though.
Spring/Autumn - you can ride your nice summer bike, see your breathe in the air, you get a little bit wrapped up against the cold, but no rain.
Summer! but only if it is hot & sunny!
Best bike.
Minimal kit required.
Favorite Shades.
Cultivate those tan lines.
Summer for me.
No faff with clothing
Can go for a ride between 5am & 10pm with no lighting faff
Loads of other riders out and about to faff along with
but.... all that schwag would be very useful right now
Spring - When it's just starting to get light in the mornings again
Summer of course. Anyone who says otherwise is, quite simply, a liar and a scoundrel.
Has to be Summer- the hotter the better. Best bike, best tyres, the chance to do the big climbs without snow closed roads. Descending back into Chambery with the night catching you: pure magic.
Autumn, love riding along a layer of leaves and you have to concentrate a little more as things are beginning to get slippery
Early spring
Autumn Mornings, nice light, fog, colourful trees
The first green shoots of spring.
Summer by far. Hill climbing at its fastest. Although i do feel hard being out in the winter.
