Cycle Surgery holds women's evenings for cycle advice

Tips, gear and encouragement in a testosterone-free zone!

It's no secret that women cyclists sometimes feel it's hard to get advice tailored just to them. From what bike to ride to what clothes to wear, it seems as though everything's engineered towards the male rider.

With that in mind, Cycle Surgery are holding some more of their popular women's evenings, giving girls of all abilities the chance to chat, shop and check out kit designed for them.

Supported by Specialized and following up on successful events held in the last year, the evenings will include advice about bike maintenance, what to wear and nutrition.

Cupcakes and refreshments will be serves, and the first 50 to arrive at each event will get a free goody bag. There will be competitions and a shopping discount in-store.

The sessions will be held from 6pm - 8pm in the following locations:

Wednesday, 1st August at Cycle Surgery Spitalfields Special Focus: Mountain biking essentials.

Thursday, 16th August at Cycle Surgery Victoria Special Focus: Commuting & beyond.

Tuesday, 21st August at Cycle Surgery Holborn Special Focus: Riding in the city.

Tuesday, 4th September at Specialized Concept Store Covent Garden Special Focus: Road riding & charity events.

After an unpromising start, having to be bribed by her parents to learn to ride without stabilisers, Sarah became rather keener on cycling in her university years, and was eventually persuaded to upgrade to proper road cycling by the prospect of a shiny red Italian bike, which she promptly destroyed by trapping a pair of knickers in the rear derailleur. Sarah writes about about cycling every weekend on
