South London cyclist attacker right and companion.jpgBexley video attack, man arrested
A 29-year-old man has handed himself in to a south London police station in connection with the assault on cyclist Simon Page.
John Nicholls of Dartford in Kent attended the police station accompanied by a solicitor, at which point he was arrested on suspicion of assault.
At 13.34pm today he was charged with the offence of Common Assault by Beating and bailed to appear before Bexley Magistrates Court on July 25.

Parcel Force via Parcel Monkey are usualy as cheap and more trustworthy than most of the rest. Never had a problem with them.

Would really like additional charges involved:
If the car owner still insists car was taken without permission, then driving without insurance and even car theft.
If car owner goes back on his word, then is there something like a charge of obstruction of investigation/justice?

Thats also true Paul M, he manned up and came forward because if they hadn't i dont think the police would have bothered with them
But also, only common assault? should at least have thrown a breach of the peace in considering the amount of people who were around, there are other charges, but not sure they apply in England
He is a rather big guy and his mate, i'm thinking it may be premature ageing due to the abuse of muscle building drugs
I condemn his actions but we should at least give him some credit for coming forward at last and saving any further expense of police time in tracking him down.

Yeah, that's exactly what the Police would have been doing..
No credit given, he handed himself in as he was probably getting annoyed with everyone he knew calling him up saying he was on the news, thus trying to save his own neck. It's only the tenacious natures of the victim that has bought this to some kind of closure. Otherwise it would have sunk into obscurity and punchy half wit would have got away scot free.
Yes, or else he got the fear and called his solicitor, who said "you're bang to rights, hand yourself in so at least there'll be *something* to say in your defence in court".

Agree with Gkam84, would make it even sweeter if the idiot owner of the car who was shielding him had a little karma back too.

He's a Dartford man? Well that explains it. (Disclaimer: I have never been to Dartford, this is a joke referencing an earlier thread.)
Having googled Dartford, I can say that he probably had little real choice but to give himself up, given its proximity to Bexley.
The big question really is: where is he from - Bexley or elsewhere? OldRidgeback's reputation hangs in the balance...
Dunno what my reputation has to do with it but... Dartford is a charming place, with a big busy bridge that goes to an equally charming part of Essex.
Unless the driver was given permission to drive the vehicle, then the charge of taking without owner's consent (TWOC) would stand as mentioned earlier. The driver may also be guilty of driving without insurance, even if he was given permission. If he says the owner did allow him to drive the car then the owner should also be charged with obstruction, again as mentioned earlier. What we haven't seen yet is whether the vehicle owner is a Bexley resident.
About time and i hope it turns out they can link him to the car owner as a friend of some kind and have the owner charged with obstructing the police in the course of their enquiry
