Motorcyclist kicked Hull cyclist off moving bike – police appeal for witnesses

Cyclist hit his head on a parked car

Humberside Police have appealed for witnesses after a man was kicked off his bike in Hull on Tuesday, July 25.

The Yorkshire Post reports that a 57-year-old man was cycling along Greenwood Avenue at the junction with Ellerburn Avenue at around 5.40pm when an unknown person on a motorbike approached him from behind and allegedly kicked his bike as they passed.

The cyclist fell into a parked car and hit his head. He sustained a gash to his forehead which required a number of stitches at Hull Royal Infirmary.

Anyone who witnessed the incident should call 101 quoting crime number 16/24384/17.

Alex has written for more cricket publications than the rest of the road.cc team combined. Despite the apparent evidence of this picture, he doesn't especially like cake.

Well that's a new one, someone blaming Lance Armstrong for shite driving in Hull. I suppose your average white van man thinks every cyclist on the morning commute is a doper and deserves everything they dish out. Makes sense.

A cyclist who goes abroad without a weapon is an idiot.

Perhaps it was a performance piece as part of the City of Culture year?

Or Ronnie Pickering's bought a scooter.

Surprised Humberside police are bothered, they didn't even bother getting back to me in March after a bus driver deliberately tried to ram me off the bridge going over the river despite there being an empty lane in the same direction.

My 'home' city is a fucking cesspit at times and for cycling it's shite, it used to be massively popular but because of the ineptitude of LA and car being king it's gone downward at a rate of knots both in number and safety, yet put cycling infra in and it would massively change, local authority promised to put some in along the whole length of the new widened trunk road from the city centre to the East of the city (toward the industrial areas) and then promptly didn't bother ... wankers.

Do you mean the cycle lanes that run alongside the A1033 Hedon Road or the Hull to Withernsea trail, both exist and I ride them regularly. As to the issue reported above, there's a problem in that particular area with people riding untaxed off road motorbikes, a rider was knocked off one last night, http://www.hulldailymail.co.uk/news/hull-east-yorkshire-news/motorcyclis... but don't let facts get in the way of your prejudices

Pity he didn't end up worse. Sick of reading about twats on uninsured mopeds/crossers. Police should be allowed to run them over.

No, that would damage the front of the cars, very expensive. Much cheaper to have an officer use another vehicle and use their door as weapon, hang on I've read something similar about this...
