Chain Reaction Cycles shows how with help of a chain, bearing and a couple of zip ties

Fidget spinners, you may have noticed, are 2017’s Big Thing. And now, our friends at Chain Reaction Cycles have produced a video showing how you can make your own from spare bike parts you may have lying around.

All you need is a length of chain, a bearing and a couple of zip ties then just follow the instructions in the ‘How To … ‘ video below.

Dating back to the 1990s, the stress-relieving toys have exploded in popularity in the past couple of months – to the dismay of many parents and teachers, with some schools banning them during lessons.

And while they are claimed to be ideal for helping keep people with conditions ADHD focused, expert opinion is split as to whether that is, in fact, true.

Chain Reaction Cycles’ version has on the whole received a positive response on its Facebook page, with many people posting photos of ones the have made themselves.

As always, on social media as in real life, you can’t please all the people all the time, with one commenter saying: “Or get a life, stop being a pathetic idiotic child. Get out on yer bike instead.”

Born in Scotland, Simon moved to London aged seven and now lives in the Oxfordshire Cotswolds with his miniature schnauzer, Elodie. He fell in love with cycling one Saturday morning in 1994 while living in Italy when Milan-San Remo went past his front door. A daily cycle commuter in London back before riding to work started to boom, he's been news editor at road.cc since 2009. Handily for work, he speaks French and Italian. He doesn't get to ride his Colnago as often as he'd like, and freely admits he's much more adept at cooking than fettling with bikes.
