With everything else that went on at the tail end of last week, you could be forgiven for having missed Alex Dowsett winning the national time trial championship for the fifth time.
The Movistar rider has won five of the past six editions of the event – the only year he missed out, 2014, it was won by Sir Bradley Wiggins who would add the world title to the national one later that year.
The 27-year-old from Essex put in a time of 55 minutes 38 seconds to win in Stockton-on-Tees last Thursday, posting details of the ride to Strava afterwards.

Some of the commenters to his Strava post wished Dowsett the best of luck for the Tour de France, which starts on Saturday, although yesterday his name was missing when Movistar, targeting the overall with Nairo Quintana, announced its team.
Dowsett made his Tour debut last year but was forced to abandon on Stage 12 in the Pyrenees due to the ongoing effects of a deep cut to his right arm sustained earlier in the race.
Last month, Dowsett set a new record for a 25-mile ride under Cycling Time Trial rules, posting his data from that to Strava too.

I can’t see a link to the Strava record for the ride (unless I’m missing something). This isn’t the first time an article has appeared commenting about something on another web site (think it was a recent kickstarter article) which didn’t contain a link – could one be added?
Well done Alex – chapeau, and kudos when I find a link to add it too!

Don’t be sad or angry if Alex doesn’t make the TdF this year.
The parcours is not really to his liking or strengths.
