The DealCatcher has paid a visit to the good folks over at Trek and Bontrager today to take a look around their recently launched online store.
There's plenty going on over there. Plenty of new and exciting products, plenty of bargains, plenty of discounted winter bike pieces, and a few summery numbers to look forward to pulling on as the weather improves.
Amongst their currently discounted stock are a few jackets that may seem a little out of season if we were living in a part of the world with a predictable climate, but we don't. And with that in mind it's well worth exploring the benefits of Bontrager's Ernest and Marquette jackets, they'll no doubt come in handy in the weeks and months to come.
That's not to say that we haven't got some summery gear for you guys. Away from the jackets and helmets available at big discounts in today's DealCatcher, there's a pair of MTB shorts that double up as a particularly smart pair of commuting shorts that one or two of us in the office have our eyes on.
There's also Bontrager's range of summer cycling kit to look out for. While it's not part of this run of discounts, the kit looks fantastic and the prices are very reasonable. Here's a selection:
First up is Bontrager's Flare R tail light. We stipulated a while ago that lights shouldn't only be used at night time, and with the lengthening summer day's Bontrager think so too.
Bontrager say their Spector Shorts have unmatched comfort and performance for year-round riding. The dual density chamois is another point they'd like you to notice - comfort is key by the looks of things.
And the two jerseys we've picked out, the Velocis and the Velocis Halo, are designed to keep you cool, comfortable, and safe.
Right, onto the Bontrager bike bargains:
Summer's almost here, right? So your commute, no matter how long or short it might be will have just got a whole lot more appealing.
If you live reasonably close to where you work and your job can accommodate such forward-thinking concepts as wearing shorts on hot days, you'll be looking for clothing that you can cycle to work in and wear for the rest of the day.
Bontrager's Rhythm mountain bike specific shorts can fill that gap in your wardrobe, especially in the stylish grey that we've featured here. They've obviously got cycling in threads of their design - the nylon shell makes any road muck easily cleanable, a detachable liner will keep you comfortable off and on the bike, and the double snap front button will keep them secure throughout your ride.
Also, we know plenty of mountain bikers visit these pages, so if you're after a classy new pair of shorts for the trail, you can thank us later.
Yes, we know, winter's out, summer's in. We've heard it all before.
We've also seen it all before. We've seen a boiling hot spring followed by a damp and cool summer. Which is why we're prepared for anything here at road.cc and which is why we're preparing you for the same.
The next two deals, this Bontrager Earnest jacket and the following Marquette jacket, will see you comfortably through whatever the next 4 months of 'summer' evenings can throw at you.
The Earnest here is aimed at those of you who are used to keeping warm while training in cold conditions.
Sure, it's unlikely to get cold enough over the next few months for you to take advantage of the jacket's drawcord that seals in the warmth from escaping from the bottom, but the thermal fabric and Profila Windshell might come in handy for those of you living in slightly more northern locations.
Also, it'll be great for the winter, and you're unlikely to get a jacket of this quality at this price in October.
The Marquette Jacket is aimed at the more casual or urban rider.
Heading out into town late at night and don't want to wear your normal cycling jacket? Want to remain visible to other road users while you're in the saddle?
The Marquette covers both of those options in style. The insulated wind-resistant jacket is perfect for when the temperature drops, and the fold-up snap flap reveals a reflective and fluorescent area to help drivers behind you see you.
Perfect for cooler summer evenings, and almost every autumn one.
Onto the helmets. We've got three for you today and all of them have been discounted to the same price.
First up is the Quantum Helmet.
With its removable snap visor the Quantum might be for you if you're expecting to ride through the rain at any point in the foreseeable future.
It's got fantastic ventilation, and Bontrager's fully adjustable Micro-Manager fit system, so you've got nothing to worry about if you're head's bigger, smaller, or hotter than the average.
What's more, should you have a crash within your first year of Bontrager helmet ownership, they'll replace it for you as part of their Crash Replacement Guarantee.
Bontrager's Stravos has a slightly racier look to it, and the absence of a visor makes it a better option for cyclists after a performance kick than a commuting aid.
With Bontrager's Headmaster fit adjustment system, you'll be able to keep your helmet comfortable while you're on the go using only one hand.
It's available in white and green, as well as black white and pink in the women's department at this price, while the options below for the men's helmet are limited.
This helmet also falls into Bontrager's Crash Replacement Guarantee scheme.
Finally, everything you've just read about the female Bontrager Stravos helmet also applies to this, the men's version.
The only difference is that you can only get this helmet in black and blue, which, if you ask us, is lucky. We reckon it's the best of the available colour schemes.
