Yoga, eh? Why sit at home stretching and bending when you could be out hitting hills on your trusty winter steed? Here's why.

Yoga is brilliant for cyclists who want to avoid injury and ride more efficiently.

As our resident road.cc yoga expert Karen Burt explains with great patience, cyclists strengthen certain muscles at the expense of others, which strains the joints and can cause inflexibility.

Yoga increases flexibility and strength in the lesser-used muscles, giving core strength and more efficiency of movement in the saddle.

It's not just for gym bunnies either - there's a level at which anyone can perform the moves and get the benefits.

It might just be the most important thing you do off the bike this winter to improve next season's results.
