Police are appealing for witnesses following a collision in Brighouse which resulted in the death of a cyclist yesterday (Thursday). A 57-year-old man from Brighouse has been arrested and released on bail.
The incident took place at around 1.20pm on Elland Road near Cromwell Bottom. The car involved was a black Citroen C5.
The cyclist, who is yet to be formally identified, is believed to be a 55-year-old man. He suffered serious injuries in the collision and was pronounced dead a short time afterwards.
Detective Sergeant Carole Greaves, of the Major Collision Enquiry Team, said:
“We are keen to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision itself, the manner of driving of the Citroen C5 immediately prior to this collision or the route and manner that the bicycle was being ridden. Anyone with information is asked to call the Major Collision Enquiry Team via 101."
The Brighouse Echo reports that the road between Brighouse and Elland was closed for several hours while emergency services and accident investigators dealt with the incident.

I have to say one thing: WHAT THE FUCK IS GOING ON WITH YOU BRITISH CAR USERS? each and every day I hear someone die from a car and a car only!!! what the fuck is going on with you?? are the brItish car users brain dead? what kind of schools do you attend? I Iive in a crap country in terms of, among other things, cycling infrastracture (no infrastracture at all) and I hear no deaths, and I read the news daily, be sure about that. There MUST be something you have to do for that. Please!!
