FSA Gimondi crankset coming to the UK in May

Italian legend has got his already... well, they do have his name on them

Distributor Windwave has said that the new vintage-style, single speed Gimondi chainset from components manufacturer FSA, which we first spotted on a Colnago Master X Pista at the recent CORE bike show, will be available in the UK from May at a price of £79.95.

Named after the great Felice Gimondi – one of only five cyclists to have won all three Grand Tours, the others being Jacques Anquetil, Eddy Merckx, Bernard Hinault and Alberto Contador – the chainset is available with 165, 170 and 175mm crank arm lengths and weighs 631g.

The chainring is 48 x 3/32 made out of anodized silver alloy, complemented by anodized black chain ring bolts, while the arms are cold forged and polished, and

Besides his major stage race victories, Gimondi was also an accomplished one-day racer, winning both Paris-Roubaix and Milan-Sanremo, as well as the World Road Championship in 1973, and it’s anyone’s guess how many more races he would have won had his career not coincided with that of Merckx.

Recently, Gimondi himself was presented with a commemorative edition of the chainset that bears his name by FSA General Manager, Claudio Marra.

So, a poseur's chainset, rather than for track use. Shame.

Is this for a 1/8 or a 3/32 chain?

edit: Doh, I failed to read the article! This looks nice. Good that it comes in 175 - lots of single ring chainsets don't. I wonder what the best square taper BB for it is.
