Fly6CE mounts

I finally got around to fitting a Fly6 mount that I got from EBay (for my MTB after my seatpost, saddle and mount got nicked). It was a 3d-printed design that fits onto the saddle rails, but as I tightened one of the screws, it snapped which is either due to it being over-brittle or just as likely, I over-tightened it.

My question is does anyone know of a sturdy and reasonably priced Fly6 mount? (Seatpost mounting is preferred, but a saddle mount is okay, too)

Found this design which looks pretty good: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4238722

    I’d have thought you’d have

I’d have thought you’d have wider options in the first place for a camera to attach to a helicopter.

    Seems to have disappeared now

There was one that was a buy-it-now for 15 quid that disappeared and I’ve won an auction for another one (sorry, I didn’t share that as I didn’t want rival bids). I’ve had another look and there’s a Cycliq new set for 35 quid!

I’ve got a roll of suitable helicopter tape and it’s nicely transparent whereas a bit of inner tube isn’t.

I’ve managed to win a bid on a proper Cycliq mount from EBay now, so I’ll be using the velcro mount though I’ll still put a bit of helico tape under it to protect the carbon fibre seatpost.

As a helicopter technician I’d still use a piece of old inner tube.

Thanks – that’d work but is only half the solution and 3d printing isn’t cheap, so I’d prefer something moulded instead. I’ve found a Cycliq accessory pack on EBay that’s cheaper then buying from Cycliq and most importantly doesn’t have a £25 postage charge.

And I agree … the Cycliq

And I agree … the Cycliq mounts are useless … they’ve gone for an over-complex design that has too many stress points.
I find the 1/8 turn a pain in the arse, but the mounts – including the action cam mount – could have been designed with reinforcement around the stress points; just like the Garmin mount has.

I can’t see that link though
I can’t see that link though I know the kind of thing you mean. Fly6ce uses a one eighth turn fitting. The 3d printed one used that kind of thing – a saddle rail bracket with a 3 prong action cam connector and then a Cycliq to action cam connector.

I remember the old Fly6 bracket – it was rubbish.

The link above shows a Cycliq
The link above shows a Cycliq female and an action cam connector … Given the wide range of action cam fittings that are cheaply available, could you use that instead?

If that model of the Fly6 has the Garmin style ¼ turn (instead of the proxy ⅛ turn), there are several ¼ turn action cam fittings available.

(Sorry I can’t be much more help, Ive got the older Fly6 which was held on with bands. I stuck a ¼ turn connector to my Fly12 and use that instead of the ⅛ turn)

    Helicopter tape, I reckon.

You’ll want to roll a bit of

You’ll want to roll a bit of old inner tube onto your post first, those zip ties will result in pretty bad fretting if left naked like the pic shows.
