Just one change for me.

Ewan out Teunissen in. figured I'm going to need a lot of transfers in this competition.

I underestimated Quickstep in the TTT, which I always do.  Dropping Viviani will work out for me if Bettiol does something tomorrow.

Bad TTT by Mitchelton, not great for me as I was expecting Trentin to be challenging for yellow in the first week. Looks like Teunissen will keep the Yellow jersey until stage 6 now, unless Van Aert take sit off him.

Added to that I have the problem of what to do with Groenwagen. dropped very early today seems he may be more badly hurt than I thought.

Went for this so not too bad. TTT will be interesting, a lot of love for Mitchelton to challenge but not sure their team looks so strong? But I could be wrong and often am..

difficult not no have bernal ala and Sagan which doesn't leave many points. Are you favouring Sprinters or Climbers?

Alaphilippe too expensive for me, also a lot of people doubt he will be able to repeat last year's results, the long high climbs don't really suit him and to win KoM you need to get the double HC points. By the time the race gets to those stages there will be 'proper' climbers far enough back to get in the break and Ala will struggle to beat them.

My pursit team has 1 sprinter, 3 GC riders, 3 all rounders and a cheap shot. Because I am way down on purist, I went with a few 'outside' picks in a 'do or die' attempt to make up ground.

My Standard team has 7 climbers for Stage 1.

Porte crashed out before even reaching the cobbles last year. I quite like those stages in GTs, mixes things up and gives cobbles specialists the chance for a famous win.

Initially I thought they were a good variation, giving more aggressive riders like Nibali an advantage but after last year I think the overall impact on the GC is negative.

Last year Thomas extended his lead over the other GC riders to a minute and that killed the race.

Thankfully no silly cobbled stages to take out GC riders this year. The chances of a GC rider having problems during a 3 week race are high enough without introducing stages designed to cause 'bad luck'. The race lost Porte & Uran on the cobbles last year.

Hopefully they stop spectators taking out GC riders this year too. Bring in the Paris riot police to maintain control angel.

I'm in France from 13th to 20th and no idea if I will have an internet connection. I didn't think when I booked it.

This race is a lot more subtle than the Giro or Vuelta...not so many mad swings from one day to the next with the terrain....it’s all in blocks of type again. Breakaway stages hard to identify as well.

Only 13 teams out of 22 have actually announced teams so far...they're being a bit slow.

Only 2 teams left to announce now - EFE & DimData.

Good news for sprinters no Bouhanni, bad news for sprinters Bonifazio.

He probably has until the end of the season to find some sort of form.

If not I suspect he will retire.

Hopefully when he retires he gets a job with Eurosport, it will be fun listening to him rather than the droning bullshit from Brian Smith.

That’ll be good....although I don’t actually mind the droning bullshit. It’s just nice,  gentle television.

Lotto, Astana and Quick step all released their teams....quite a few potential winners in that lot. Lotto with Wellens, Benoot and Ewan well set up for this paticular race....Quick step with no Gilbert is sad to see...this would have suited him and on great form. Astana looking very Astana....good stuff.

Quickstep have gone for more strength in the ITT and sprints by including Lampert & Asgreen, they will also help when they are chasing. Sensible decision imo.

Wellens is going to struggle with the heat, not sure how Benoot is when it is hot.

Gilbert isn't very happy and will probably be leaving QS at the end of the season.

Aye...it’s a shame he won’t be there....not just riding well but climbing well on his last outing.

That is impressive, beating an in from Lampaert by a considerable margin.

WVA demonstrating he is a top, top ITT rider.

If he concentrates on ITT he can be world champion soon.

unless MVP decides to ITT

Incredible how 2 riders can come to the fore so soon in their careeers.
