Great Manchester Cycle 2016 cancelled

Sadly got an email today saying that this nice little event is off this year. It could have something to do with the whopping great hole that appeared in the Mancunian Way last year. The Sportive goes up and over the Mancy Way from City Stadium to Old Trafford (very diplomatic.) No hills as such, just closed city roads, makes for an aerobic fast 52 miles challenge. Added to that it is right on my doorstep. There were slower 26m and 13m for the kids with a nice festival feel at the finish.

A real shame, I hope this gap means it isn't killed off for the future.  All the people complaining after 2012; we have now moved past peak Sportive.

Aha, at least one person cared. I managed 33.40 kph over 84km, which is the fastest over a long distance I've managed, just not possible on open roads.

reminds me of Ride London  Closed roads + peloton effect = 5 hr century!!  yes

it's a shame they cancelled this though as it sounds like a lot of fun.

Crap. Done it twice, is well organised and quite fun. Flat and short and a very mixed bag of ability cyclists. Hopefully will be back next year.
