Check out the new bikes that we’ve spotted while out and about over the past week. Bianchi has introduced a new disc version of its Intenso carbon-fibre endurance bike.
It uses 12mm thru axles front and rear and Shimano flat mount standard disc brakes. The disc brakes fitted are Shimano RS505 hydros and the wheels are DT Swiss R24 Spline DBs. The RRP on this is £2,500.
The Vigorelloi is part of Bianchi’s Vintage range, built around a cromo steel frame with a carbon/alloy fork. It comes in this Shimano 105 build for £1,500.
The Volpe is part of the Vintage collection too, despite the fact that it features not-very-vintage disc brakes. This bike is essentially a road-going cyclocross bike (yes, that’s a contradiction in terms, but go with it) with a cromo frame too – butted main tubes and plain gauge rear stays.
The brakes in question are Hayes CX Expert mechanical discs and the rest of the groupset is Shimano Tiagra, including the compact chainset. You’re looking at £1,150 for this one.
As usual with time trial/triathlon bikes, aerodynamic efficiency has driven most of the key design features. The head tube, for example, is just 25mm (1in) wide to keep the frontal area as small as possible (UCI rules don’t allow anything narrower), and both the fork crown and stem are integrated into the frame.
You can flip the bars and/or add spacers if you want a higher front end.
Look’s own Zed 3 cranks are designed to be aero too, as well as lightweight (a claimed 360g). They come in three different sizes, each of which is length adjustable.
The frameset, including the fork (with an integrated brake), seatpost, cranks, stem and handlebar, is priced £4,999.
The 695 Aerolight will be available in a limited and numbered edition to mark the Paris-Modena charity ride. This will hit the market in March. The Maserati branding is because the Italian luxury car brand is involved in the event too.
The frame is full carbon and the fork comes with an integrated brake.

The new CR 564P track bike comes with a carbon-fibre frame that’s designed for aerodynamics and a dedicated aero seatpost. The frameset is £1,799.
Niner’s RLT 9 cyclocross bike has a new bolt thru carbon-fibre fork with rack/mudguard mounts.

It’s available as a frameset for £999, or in various complete builds starting at £1,899 for a Shimano 105 model with Avid BB7 mechanical disc brakes.
The RLT 9 Steel – with a Reynolds 853 frame – gets the new fork too. The frameset is £1,499 with complete bikes from £2,299.
The Eddy Merckx EMX-525 race bike is available with disc brakes for 2016: the EM-525. It has 12mm thru axles front and rear and uses Shimano’s Flat Mount standard.
The Liege75 and the Roubaix70 are essentially the same bike with different paint jobs. They each feature a steel frame and a carbon-fibre fork, the Liege70 coming in a Molteni-inspired orange finish while the Roubaix70 is in Faema white/red.
The frameset is priced at £1,699 while a complete bike in a Campagnolo Athena build is £2,549 and a next-level-up Chorus version is £3,249.
Tifosi has several new bikes for 2016. The Andare is a disc-equipped carbon road bike with bolt thru axles front and rear. It is built up with a Shimano Tiagra groupset and mechanical disc brakes for £1,399.99.
The Forcella is another disc brake road bike but with an aluminium frame that takes full length mudguards. This one is £999 in a Shimano Tiagra build.
The SS26 is a lightweight race bike (the carbon frame is a claimed 950g) with a BB86 bottom bracket designed for stiffness and a slim 27.2mm diameter seatpost that’s intended to damp vibration.
A complete bike in a Campagnolo Chorus build will be £3,499. Tifosi is taking orders now for delivery in March.
This is the Ritte Stainless Snob Disc that’s available as a frameset with an Enve carbon fork and a Chris King headset for £1,999.
It’s a beautiful looking bike with a BB30 bottom bracket and a tapered head tube.

Although quite why the manufacturer would bother is another question. Nicer looking crankset than available from Rotor/FSA?

Good to see a steel bike being adding to the new bike round up.
I ride a 2016 Bianchi Vigorelli and enjoy it! It’s fast, yet smooth riding. Thanks for giving steel a place!
