The latest video in our Near Miss of the Day feature shows a lorry driver making a close pass on a cyclist – and it’s not just any close pass either, it’s a Marks & Spencer close pass, whose livery adorns the tractor unit and trailer involved.

It happened this morning on the A30 London Road in Staines-upon-Thames and was filmed by cyclist Toby Evans, who told us that he had sent a link to the footage to both Marks & Spencer and Gist, the fleet contractor that operates the vehicle.

He has also submitted it to Surrey Police, and said: “I think they’re a bit keener than my local force Thames Valley – let’s see.”

Over the years road.cc has reported on literally hundreds of close passes and near misses involving badly driven vehicles from every corner of the country – so many, in fact, that we’ve decided to turn the phenomenon into a regular feature on the site. One day hopefully we will run out of close passes and near misses to report on, but until that happy day arrives, Near Miss of the Day will keep rolling on.

If you’ve caught on camera a close encounter of the uncomfortable kind with another road user that you’d like to share with the wider cycling community please send it to us at info@road.cc">info@road.cc or contact us via the road.cc Facebook page.
